Accountability is the ultimate grown up move that many never make. To acknowledge the role you played in a situation good or bad is to show empathy for yourself and others. It means to realize that the facade of always being right is just that - a facade. To so many Americans, being accountable for the way their actions effect others is a lesson never learned.
Two words that we all use and thought we knew what they meant. But did not. Now whenever I hear someone say they are going to hold someone accountable I know they are not using the correct word.
My understanding was: -Responsibility is what your employer lists for you to manage in whatever job/role you were hired for. -Accountability is what is enforced by those in roles over you…aka responsible over you to get your work done. They hold you accountable is you do not complete your tasks. -Ownership is an internal desire or drive to handle your responsibilities by taking accountability for all of your failures or actions regardless if your boss holds you accountable for them. Thoughts?
Wow! precise and clear! thank you!
i wish there's a video of the entire speech
Great clip! What is his name so I see more of his work?
Such a great video
Responsibilities, are for actions. Accountability, is not doing, because of ripple effect.
This is why we teach businesses to hire Intrapreneuers!
informative
Really enjoy the video; but the volume is quite low. Can you re-upload with higher gain?
Good video however I feel like there is another level to this called ownership which is the self-motivated intrinsic act
Taking accountability is not only a good character but also a desirable skill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_5VMaNlMVM
