It's even easier & faster to determine direction than he has described. The sun rises low in the East & gradually rises in the sky to a maximum (called noon) & then falls gradually & finally sets in the West. If it is morning, the sun will be somewhere between the East & the South & the tip of the shadow of a stick will point between West & North.

At noon, (depending on the time of year & latitude), the tip of the shadow of a stick will point to the North (or have no shadow at all for a period time during the summer because the sun is directly over head in many US locations). If it is noon or later, then the tip of the shadow of a stick will point between the North & the East.

@northangelx235

What’s the 15 minutes for? Isn’t the shadow pointing north immediately? Thanks
