AH! I believed you there for a second there. In truth the X was added because 'Masako' was taken on AOL Instant Messenger so yeah...that's how old I aaaaaaaaam. But yay, glad you covered this and the manga ending is so touching and realistic.
You should honestly make it a tradition to spin the wheel for the final anime of each video of this series from now on. That way it involves your fans even more while at the same time giving you something good to watch. Just a thought.
“What psychopath is watching these ads enough to rank them??” “Solid should watch”
Fan service is (i think) the number one thing that turns people off of anime. Back when I was a weeb (before anime was considered cool) everybody I would recommend anime to would say that they're not into cartoon porn. It also kind of kills stories when there's something dramatic happening but they have to insert a random panty shot for the pervs
its such a shame that MGX didnt do well financially and wont get a season 2. i honestly think its one of like 4 anime ever that have ever shown a realistic relationship progression.
Ahhh, I love how weird and entertaining this series is. The research and context you add for each piece of media you cover is super interesting and appreciated!!! So glad this is a bit of a regular thing, albeit at your expense oftentimes. Keep doing what you do, man! :D
i'm honestly surprised somebody can love mgx while being grossed out by the saliva stuff, I thought anybody grossed out by it would just dismiss the show entirely. I very much appreciate your open-mindedness towards the anime, simply inspiring.
I ended up here just because City Hunter was on your title card. My husband and I run a City Hunter-specific podcast, so seeing somebody new hop in with Goodbye My Sweetheart was pretty cool, actually. And it's really interesting to see how basically most of your takeaways from that movie almost totally sum up what the greater scope of the show is, too, from the cool action to Ryo being entirely too handsy. Like, that's it, that's the show. Obviously there's more character growth over time if you ever get into it, but I do think that film actually isn't so bad as it's own stand-alone media. Thanks for talking about it! Really cool to see it from a newcomer's perspective!
I do enjoy the random button, but I appreciate you have a backup random wheel full of actual anime. Great vid.
12:45 so my friend is an animator and she made one of those things for her portfolio that got her into uni, and the thing that makes them work is also them being lit by a flashing light, which the one you got in your randomizer didn't seem to do so it didn't create the effect properly
I honestly love this series, it’s cool that some series most people would skip over get a highlight. Thanks for the content.
Mgx is great bc the reletionship actually progresses. They don’t spend 19302 episodes with this more then friend but not lovers shit which feels so good and refreshing
I don't know if I should say you're lucky or not cause mutiple not-really-an-anime-series in one session when there's like, thousands of animes, is in it's own way amazing lol. I think it's cool that you also look up and talk about info on the things you watch. Hope you get some good series next time!
Half expected the “pay with his body” to lead to Ryo getting set up for having his organs removed and him needing to work out how to escape. I’m disappointed.
I clicked on this video because I recognized the girl in the thumbnail. I was like, "Hey that looks like the spit chick from that one anime I tried watching in middle school." Glad I was right. I forgotten the name of it so thank you for reminding me.
This is one of those examples that kind of proves that humans don't actually want randomized stuff, we want a bit more curation than that. That being said, love this video format, don't change the randomizer wheel. Though, you might want to consider ALWAYS using the rando-mendation wheel for the LAST anime of each episode. Gives a higher chance of ending the video on a banger.
The fanservice stuff is one of the best elements of City Hunter, are you kidding me?
Glad to see you getting those sponsors dude, you're authentic and it's great seeing it pay off
You should watch: Bessatsu Olympia Kyklos (time travel made stupid) Hoozuki no Reitetsu (you know that scene in YuYu Hakusho where they first visit like hells waiting room and there's devils running around with paperwork? It's that.) Aku no Hana (a kid who likes poetry has convinced himself he's too weird to relate to others, a girl in his class takes advantage of this) Serial Experiments Lain (the internet is basically omnipresent right? abstract bullshit go!) Nana (gals being pals, and then they were roommates, and they both deal with relationship stuff) Welcome to the NHK! (Rewatching an anime about a paranoid shut-in during peak panini times was a mistake, great series though if you haven't already seen it)
