FINALLY! I've been waiting for this. This is the type of data that I really needed to see.
Thank for the video. Very helpful for a new EV driver to see practical application use of the data screen.
Thanks for posting! Excited to geek out on the new energy screen. 😂
That was your guardian angel on the motorcycle next to you. Props to the Rivian cameras for detecting both physical and spiritual bodies.
Great content Jose. I used your Referral Code for my 2nd Rivian I am picking up on Monday, June 9.
Jose what the word on faster charging ...thats what is most important for road tripping
[off topic] Gotta love that adjustability of follow distance of the cruise control... 5 cars lengths, 5.1 car lengths, 5.2 car lengths :)
Nice video, energy window is so much more useful!! Wish the driver display has more options than last 15 minutes though.
Nice! I've always felt that a real-time energy monitor is something I wish the R1T had; that little left-side carousel energy monitor just wasn't enough for me. Can't wait for this update to hit.
Thanks Jose. Don't need more data, need more features and functions. How about widgets to customize the driver display like other modern cars, a way to resume cruise control at prior set speed or a 2nd driver profile by just tapping the screen without needing a 2nd phone. Ridiculous when i have friends drive on a road trip and it won't easily remember their profile. I've given up trying to understand how Rivian prioritizes updates.
Jose, great information on the new energy monitor feature and your other video on the 2 factor authentication. I have a request for you to submit to Rivian, since your input gets more attention than mine. I would like to see Rivian provide driver with some type of alert that the speed limit has changed. With all of the speed limit camera systems being deployed, this would be a really useful feature to let drivers know that they are now in a different speed zone area. My Mercedes, would automatically change the cruise control speed to match a change in the speed limit, and that was really nice.
Thanks for all the info. Being a data nerd I'm really looking forward to this update. One tip when videoing: Make sure to lock your focus and exposure so the camera doesn't keep racking focus when it detects your arm or some other anomaly. Great work! Thanks!
I am so pumped about this energy monitor feature. It will be a game changer for camping and I have been dying for something other than the 15 min avg mi/kwh
Doing good work, thanks Jose!
Ugh, why can’t they go back to the way the seat ventilation/heating was before. Last used. Rivians temperature based suggestion is stupid. Why would I want my heated seat on when I get into my Rivian at 8am in south Florida when the temperature is at 85 degrees? It’s so ridiculous. Either change it back to the way it was before or let us program, hey, if it’s above 65 degrees I want my damn ventilated seat on.
Those range and range impact estimates are absolutely worthless unless you are driving in a tabletop flat area like Florida. In the mountains they are actually dangerous because they will severely overestimate your range. The only time the software should attempt to estimate range is in the navigation since it knows your route and therefore the terrain. State of charge should never be specified in miles except in the navigation.
I finally got to try out this new Rivian MFA update. Invariably, it went like this: I use PAAK (a great blessing); approach my R1S, doors unlock, get in, tap of the brake pedal, and that's when all the good stuff ends. The R1S display prompts me to check my phone! Seriously, Rivian!? So now forget PAAK; must fumble in my pockets looking for my phone, find it, pull it out, unlock it, launch RIvian app, find the "let's go" screen, tap on it, my R1S is ready. Now put phone back in pocket or somewhere else. Time and again, the thought crossed my mind, what if I lose my phone; what if the phone goes dead!? Never taken for granted, this Rivian MFA has made me appreciate so much more how Tesla, however imperfect still might be, has brilliantly, simply, and easily implemented PIN to drive. Tap on brake pedal, keypad appears on display, enter PIN, my glorious Tesla gets unlocked, off I go, ready. No phone, nothing else needed but the awesome tech built into my Tesla. Summarizing: Rivian, RIvian engineers, what were you eating or smoking when you dreamed up this MFA aberration? What on god's earth possessed you to come up with such a stupid, absurd, and actually dangerous MFA implementation (lose your phone?) Not only is this MFA implementation such a stupid absurdity, it also at best partially defeats PAAK use as well. It makes those of us who appreciate and are thankful for the PAAK feature feel as if we have gone back in time and started (involuntarily) using that other stupid, relic, ICE-age anti-EV absurdity called the key fob. C'mon, Rivian, do this right. LEARN FROM TESLA about getting PIN to drive done right!
Still waiting for launch mode for Gen 1 quads... As for the energy screen, my initial reaction is it would have been nice if they included other things that impact range they could account for. An easy one would have been elevation change. Very easy to collect the data for that and factor it in since it has mapping data already.
Good information Jose
