Flight 6 was so good it's been hard seeing the version 2 having so many issues.
I can already feel Scott Manley pin-pointing the exact angular speed of that thing
Feel like a 2026 Rocket to Mars is way off.
Just saw the upper stage of Starship from a pier in Key West, FL just as SECO happened while playing your livestream, was trying to focus with my Nikon P1000 but the ship was moving so quickly I couldn't get a focus on it and either SECO already finished or Starship moved past the edge of my horizon before I could get a lock on it (imagine tracking an object going 25000-ish kph, 140 km in altitude almost right over your head.. went by really quickly)... such a cool and surreal sight I won't forget :D! Great stream as always and thanks for helping me see Starship with my naked eyes for the first time!!
I know SpaceX is reiterating the process with these tests and rapid manufacturing program. But I feel there comes a point when they need to take a look back reevaluate what they have so far. Otherwise they are just wasting building prototypes that aren’t going to get them the data they need. Of course hindsight is 20/20 but a propellant leak shouldn’t lead to total loss of the ship. Ever since V2 came along SpaceX has not been meeting there desired milestones for the past 3 launches not feeling optimistic.
I came to the stream the EXACT second engines got lit. It's a weirdly strong experience
This is starting to feel like the programming equivalent of running code with an index error over and over, hoping it will just start working.
A year ago i would have been bummed out by this. Today I am laughing! 😂
Seeing the video of the fins melting along with the trail they left behind was exceptionally cool. Though the flight was a complete and utter failure, I was not disappointed whatsoever.
Those colors from the plasma and fire are WILD!! Insane video.
The SpaceX EveryDayAstronaut Streams are soo good. 812k views already, good job Tim 👍👍
Wins for the day: - Booster re-fly - Directional kickback - Ship lasted longer than previous flights. Fails for the day: - Booster RUD after higher angle of attack reentry - Pez dispenser door failed to open - Pez failed to deploy due to door - Ship lost all attitude control - Ship RUD
I agree the failure way of learning is great, but they seem to have taken a wrong path here. They are now so behind schedule that they have to redo their workflow. Its a lot of money by now, "yeah well it exactly destoys itself at the preplanned area". Thats a low bar by now.
Best sound I’ve ever heard of a launch. Simply unreal.
I look at the fact that both s28 and s35 had similar issues with similar tests. Both involved using the bay door, both also had pressurised cargo bays, I think they need to put a slot in the door to allow the pressure to escape and return with altitude. That is a quick fix that is worth trying as it is the most likely culprit for both ships becoming unstable beyond the point where the controls could compensate.
Thanks so much to the Everyday Astronaut team. Another fantastic launch coverage!
Well done with final speech! Keep up the good Work! Thank you to Felix of WAI team, Marcus in Australia ! Tim D and All you rock !
Orion: <sniff, sniff> What's burning? ....oh... you again.
From now on: poem after every launch! Great work all of the crew, thanks!
