That moustache is glamorous ✌

@xamp_exclammark

The giant walls of text flowing at lightspeed are strangely relaxing imo

@ndbangling7332

"White monospace font on a black background" every users first ever customisation, green on black

@ngspace9829

"sudo apt install steam" is forever engraved in my mind after watching linus fuck up pop os

@ramon-cs

What I like so much about CLI is that it often gives way more information.
It essentially does so in cases of crashing.

Where an ongoing process in a GUI application might just be loading symbol spinning endlessly, in a CLI application you can actually see the step it got stuck on and figure out why often without reading a long log file.

@SomePotato

Growing up on DOS, it just feels like home, but better.

@5speedfatty

Terminal is Love, Terminal is Life. Im a KDE user so no stranger to a nice GUI. but when it comes to taking command of my machine, nothing beats a terminal. its more direct, and to the point then doing things any other way.

@pascal_case

if you're intimidated by the CLI or don't want to use it, that's fine. But ultimately it gives you control of your system and allows for unmatched productivity gains. People who don't wanna put in any effort to know their system aren't going to get the advantages of those who do πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Gotta agree with you on the glamorous bit too haha

@atikattar1104

That Last Bit About Monospace Fonts Is So True For Me. I Literally Am A Fan Of Monospace Fonts Just Because How They Look In Terminal.

@nyverinorlyth9555

Out of every Youtube video that ever had typing sound effects, this channel does it best, not even a contestπŸŽ‰

@Ito-mat

I'm beginer here, but i think CLI more interesting than see dot turn around πŸ˜… I can see what PC doing when i'm clicking some icon πŸ˜‚

@originzz

The problem is we're all acting like you shouldn't have to use it at some point lmao. If you're operating a computer you might as well be somewhat aware of what you can use in the event of the gui failing

@hlasrozumu

i am using headless Linux servers and i love it πŸ˜ƒ

@techsimplified24

It is a satisfying sight to see the white text zooming around the screen, yeah!

@clarkflavour

CLI stuff is great, I love it

@TheDZHEX

The terminal is quite likely a superior tool when you know what to do and how to do it, but for a user that only has a loose idea about a change they wish to make on their machine, but not what are they supposed to do to make that change, let alone how to do it, at least some UI handholding is critical.

...or at least a way to figure out how to do it, which can also be challenging. For instance, you can type `man pacman` to figure out what the command does and how to use it, but not `which command do I use to install software`.

The learning experience... TBH, I feel like it might be a cope-y bias for the brain to sell to itself the fact that you just spent a bunch of time learning how to do what you wanted to do, rather than, well, actually doing it. And, when push comes to shove, people will quite quickly retreat to (trigger warning) "just works" methods and, rather than doing the "learning experience", will instead spend an insane amount of time to do the said retreat.

@techsimplified24

Really agree with you man. I've seen many cases where people just bring their computers to the repair shop to spend unnecessary expenditure to bring the GUI back, but what they don't know is that if they had some knowledge on this ( a Little bit is enough) and they would regret bringing their machine to the shop.

@ColdNightmareHell

There is place for CLI and GUI. Its bit hard to design GUI for all functions but not all functions needs GUI. Designing software for linux distros needs account for essential GUI functions and advanced CLI troubleshooting. But after all even windows have CMD only tools for advanced stuff. Balance is key.

@A7med9870

I have been using Linux for about half a year now
Glad for the switch, as well the automation system in it, alongside for many things, like many tools easily be installed through the package manager
It's still and will always stay with me, hating to use the terminal at all costs
As I still remember failing to install steam years ago with it, I switched that PC back to windows as I never knew the existence of a store back then (I wasn't the one who installed it)
It's the reason I didn't go with mint, as having to install the Nvidia drivers is something I don't want to write in terminal for
I went gardua for the automation of updates, at least I can get the most I want with the PC from a GUI (as well for the first time set up, safes a ton time)
I am a firm believer that the year of Linux desktop will never be happening till almost everything that's possible on the terminal, to be possible to be done inside a GUI

@MeQt

i strongly agree, using terminal makes me feel so cool
