The memory is erased, but the pain remains.

Translation for the last line
"I love you, old man."

@boadecia1433

A great way to avoid accidently dating your child is to only date people your own age.

@DonnieDaise

I like to think the hypnotist at the end decided she didn’t wanna let selfish men play these games with innocent women in their lives anymore and intentionally made it so the hypnosis wouldn’t work. Woo-Jin decided to play a long convoluted revenge game instead of save his sister or heal himself. Dae-su decided to leave his family behind and instead pursue revenge and keep the truth from his daughter. The hypnotist said no more, time to face yourself.

The last 20 minutes of this movie really mess you up

1:57 is such a beautiful shot!

After 5 years, I realize that the Oldboy copy that I had watched was incomplete. It was chocking, the cd ended on the phone call scene after the fight and the credits rolled up. Never ever i thought that it was a censured version until I saw a post talking about the ending and i didn't understand

Stuff like this wouldn't happen if people didn't date someone out of their age range

@Komnen0s

I always interpreted Daesu's smile as one of pain but also relief. His horrible 15-year-long ordeal is finally over. Maybe he knows the truth about his daughter, or maybe he doesn't, but at least he has some sense of closure (even if it came at a great cost).

I lose a lot of sympathy for Dae-su here. The right thing would be to leave Mi-do and never see her again.
