@ShopHumor

Your content is solid. Good editing, very educational, and consistently engaging. Don't let that imposter syndrome get to you. I'm sure I'm not your target demographic, and yet I still enjoy and watch and get value from what you're making. Thanks!

@ramonedixon

You’re such a sweetheart, don’t let the haters get to you. Most of the time, they don’t even know what they’re talking about.

@rachelsfitpilates

💯 yes to bringing more you. I was scared to do the same on my channel but once I did- yes you get a few more personal negative comments, but you also start getting comments like- I feel like we would be friends in real life, you feel like my sister.. your content will draw people in in such a deeper way. They can get their tips (or workouts in my case) elsewhere but they keep coming back to yours because of YOU. I heard a quote that was along the lines of, “if you aren’t repelling anyone, you aren’t drawing anyone in deeply either”.. my desire for a deep connection with viewers had to become stronger than my fear of criticism. It’s a scary journey but so worth it! ❤

@faizansheikh6010

amazing. this is one of my favourite videos so far you've made because you shared what goes on in most of our heads a lot of the time but rarely anyone has the courage to speak. and the fact that you said that the optics of your channel matter and then proceeded to post a video that may not end up performing as well as the ones from the killer video series proves how genuine you are

i look forward to what you have planned for both the channels and would watch everything you make (long time fan :D)

(especially hoping to see a "what's it like to run two separate channels" video from you soon!)

best of luck!

@Ty_Myers

I love the new ideas you're planning for the second channel. I personally would have been 100% okay with those videos having a home here on your main channel. From my vantage point, they'd be a welcome addition, even if they aren't as researched/detailed/validated. Having "just for fun" videos alongside validated videos doesn't detract (for me at least), and showing your personality and more off-the-cuff style of content is more than welcome and I think will make everyone appreciate you even more. I know the second channel is up already but I thought I'd share my perspective on the dual channel vs 1 channel idea.

And don't be nervous about being You on YouTube. Not every video you make NEEDS to be a masterclass, and you're 10000% allowed to have fun, or vent, or speculate, or react, or show your process and behind the scenes and what's worked and what doesn't,t and also to just be a person. Viewers in my demo (45+) value trustworthiness more than editing polish, and that comes from getting to know the creator, seeing their character and values and being able to witness the lens they see and think through. In other words, this is a great pivot! Thanks for deciding to take on these other video styles!

@AtomicMari

Love that you've discovered this for yourself <3 hiding behind logic and research rings so true and I definitely relate. Cheers to shining the light back on yourself as much as you do for your audience -- we gain value from your knowledge as well as your personality. Heading over to the other channel now -- congrats and cheers, Aprilynne!

@KitBetts-Masters

My honest thoughts about second channels, which I have started multiple times are that they are just more than I want to manage! Very best of luck to you.
I also think, (hope,) that the YouTube recommendation system is only getting smarter and it'll be better at differentiating what the different types of video that perform on my main channel are, and knowing who to serve them up to.
I just think any video has the potential to grow your channel and my attitude is just to experiment and put it up and have that discussion. Cheers to you, love your content and will certainly watch both channels!

@rosecolbourne

I'm excited for the 2nd channel! More AprilLynn videos sounds amazing!

@hi.davidwen

As someone who's also super research-oriented, I can relate to "hiding" behind the research. Though I've found that when I add stories from the heart vs. just telling research from the head, that seems to resonate the most with people. Maybe it's because there's so much information out there nowadays (especially with AI), it's nice to hear from a fellow human? Best of luck! (Would be interesting to hear what about your learning journey showcasing more of you and the second channel too)

@MakeThatChange

I wish we talked more about normalizing doing what you like ( and what you feel is right) as opposed to optimizing for "blowing up" and chasing viewcounts.

@HowToADU

It was a huge surprise when this all built up to second channel. For what it's worth, I think you'd be fine mixing up this video's style with the huge production video style.

I acknowledge what you said about the optics around a YT education channel being more demanding than normal channels that aren't about YT. But a whole second channel is such a huge lift if you're still solo. In any case, I'll go watch the other channel's first video now but I'm going to say what I keep telling everybody: 'In 2025, I'm personally focused on keeping my battery fully charged -- I hate saying no to things and missing out but I hate being drained even more.' I don't know if that applies to you because you might have a lot more energy and you're not embroiled in policy/politics like many of my friends are. But I hope you don't feel like things are going so well for this channel that you have to put yourself on a different channel.

In any case, all your videos have been great. Keep on keepin on.

@DinaLu

I love this for you! Been following your channel for a while and I'd love to see more of you and the behind the scenes! Watching the video on your other channel now🏃‍♀️💨

@Van-Bran

Great idea, Aprilynne! Glad you're deciding to put more of your own personality in videos, definitely the right move! I'm debating eventually starting a 2nd channel too, as I'd like to mainly focus on cinematic vlogs here, but I might have silly little other ideas that don't fit.

@aprilsrambles

I’m so excited for you!!! I’ve got the feeling from one of your videos & podcasts that you might internally want to be more personal but also scared to do so because it’s not “the most optimal” way to do YouTube. Super excited about the second channel 🎉

@Emily_Albert

I am binging your video! because i am trying to grow my channel too. Thank you April!

@macosta382

I am so excited for you and to watch you being you! As someone new to YouTube I try to find people who are starting because no one talks about how scary it is!

@MoWorldOfficial

this is all part of growth - video was fire

@OvertheRiverandThroughtheWoods

I can totally relate to being nervous about putting yourself out there. We've been putting out vlog style videos on our channel for two and a half years to a TINY audience. We seem to have turned a corner recently, but that resulted in our biggest video success so far being one where we happened to be at our most vulnerable. (Things that go wrong are easy to turn into titles and thumbnails). It's such a double-edged sword to suddenly get more people watching and commenting when some fraction of those people are just not going to be nice about it. Another channel (Homesteady) recently talked about "inviting your high school bully" to follow you around wherever you go. There is something to be said for facing your fears and doing it anyway!

@ArtParsh

I was subscriber #35 on the second channel. Thanks for sharing Aprilynne and keep up the good work! This channel is very valuable for the beginner YouTubers. Appreciate it.

@AnnikaRPFA

This sounds like a great plan! I'm all for it and have already subscribed to your second channel!
I'm actually thinking about creating a second channel as well.
