UPDATE! I completely messed up explaining my second tripod print. You can see it in ml last video about the shelf. The time stamp is 14:10 and it is a lense holder because my tripod is to weak to hold my camera.

What software do I use?

The Software I use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxcP6bHyjJI&t=1171s
Shapr3D (student version) I think it's super easy but harder to make changes afterwards. So right now I'm going through the pain to learn Fusion360 which I think is better for more complex things and changing the drawings mid or after the design.

Shapr3D 3D I can just recommend the full version/student version, otherwise the export quality is horrible.

@Almost_Aussie

That shower magnet shape was definitely inspired by shapes commonly seen in a shower…

@inoob26

we really need more videos about practical prints instead of just printing toys, hope to see more!

@Johan3Gil

It was a breath of fresh air seeing someone else so enthusiastic about all the small printable posibilities of a 3D printer, I loved it!

@internetcancer1672

Shower magnet looks happy to see me!

@robertcronk1028

I think the great thing about this video is that it doesn’t just give us neat things to print that you created (since many are customized to the things in your life), but teaches us to be observant of the things we do that could use improvement! So many inconveniences are overlooked because we’re so conditioned to the way things are. Kudos from a 60 something engineer!

@puppetstring55

There are few things more satisfying then finding a problem, drafting a solution, waiting for a print, then seeing it actually work.

@ControlledPairsGaming

Your joy is infectious. Stay happy, my man. Thanks for the dope video.

@helmanfrow

I've been designing stuff in 3D for over 20 years and it's great to finally have an outlet for testing my designs in the real world. Like you, I have printed dozens of little functional pieces to repair or improve objects and processes in my life. Also like you I derive great pleasure from seeing my designs in use.

@MartinPaoloni

The access card + water bottle TPU thingy is just genius. Well done!

@rusgib3648

Finally! Printing practical, useful items is exactly why I got a 3D printer years ago. Thank you for posting this video.

@darojeffrey

The Door Hook...and the sentiment behind it...chef's kiss...this is the sort of project that I bought my printer for. If it makes you happy, print it.

@kwitchercryn1775

😂 tip of the riceberg made me chuckle and thank you for breaking down your water bottle into gallons so that I could understand! 😂 Great video, tschuss!

@tinkerman-q

Finally someone said it. If I were an youtuber I'd have said it a long time ago. The closest thing to useless I do are toys I gift kids. Cheaper than buying crappy toys and they go nuts about them with custom stuff.

@AdamJasper18

I love how excited you get at showing us all the small but meaningful solutions that 3D printing allowed you to implement.

@redman2751

Great video. Stuff like this has made my 3d printer invaluable in my house. My 2 young boys 6 and 8, will ask me all the time to print stuff for them, sometimes toys, sometimes to fix toys, and sometimes just random useful things. It’s cool seeing them at such a young age be resourceful to make things work for them. Also my wife, she thought the printer was stupid, until I printed desk organizers for her at work, then all of her co-workers wanted one too. Then printing organizers for her car, and holders for her hair straightener, and fixing the fan chain pulls so that it’s easy to figure out which chain is the light versus the fan. Now instead of saying can we order whatever to fix something on Amazon she will ask if I can print it first. Not only that but I have a folder on my computer just for useful objects I’ve printed around the house. This way if they ever break or I need another one, I can quickly find it and hit print.

@samk2407

The reason practical prints don't get as much hype is because they are so user specific. It's often "i have this weird latch that broke on my 2008 Samsung vacuum" or "I need to mount my camera to my toaster oven" the kind of things a 3d printer is INVALUABLE for, but that only really works for your specific situation. They are often custom designs for your circumstances or at the very least a niche usecase.

@timontoth293

It's amazing how happy you are with all these little improvements in life and the best part is that you are able to show it and give some of it to the viewers!

@barrymeaker

The print I use every day (which also makes me smile) is a silverware tray customized to the size and shape of my silverware.

Another "things in the kitchen" category item was a cover for my new potato peeler. I cut myself on the sharp blade while reaching into the drawer for something. So, a few hours later, I had a safety cover designed and built.

Great video. Loved the humor and passion you show. New subscriber.

@LikeaGlove90

This is great.. love practical stuff.
Your humour is so good, with a deadpan German tone, beautiful
