The last time I did this the paper got stuck in my pencil and made it jam 😭 but that was because i didn't fold it properly. Honestly I just recommend using a separate eraser, the back erasers on some mechanical pencils are super annoying anyway. I only keep them on so the lead doesn't escape

Just use one side of the eraser like so it gets used at an angle and will be tilted and then flip the eraser and then you got a new eraser with the same height as a new one
