@meow4619

This is a competition between the Chinese in the US and the Chinese in China.

@ABdoukaderySamateh-k1w

when you stop improving yourself and start worrying about how to stop others you already lost

@Rubicon365

When it's US making the breakthrough, it's a big step for humankind. If china making the breakthrough, it's a national security issue 😂

@DRMFree_Offline_Games_DONT_Die

China please make GPUs as well. The world is so tired of buying expensive GPUs for so long.

@amubi

Defeated by open source model is the biggest joke to those billionaires

@HarryYouKnowWho

I am really fed up with the word "Threatening". Any progress made by China and any other country is "Threatening" to the Americans and the West.

@Videodoro

Amazing to see OpenAI defending “democratic AI“ when they are the ones who decided to go from open source to closed source.

@RPGnerd1991

The headline should be "China saves the world from US AI dominance"

@samesamebutdifferent563

When you can't compete, start playing the democracy vs authoritarian cards.

@evodevo420

Deepseek is an open source model that anyone can download, modify, and do whatever they want was it. Literally the best news in AI in such a long time

@andrewie9138

"threat", "dominance", I guess the US media can't conjure up better words

@johannes4386

A wise man once said, in a US company it has 8 leaders and 1 rower, but if something went wrong they fired the rower

@JonathanRose24

So how long till they try to ban it for “national security“ reasons

@izAlannah

When I hear that China has caught up, I'm skeptical; when I hear you mention democracy, I know we're being surpassed.

@lijiang5600

I have CNBC on the background everyday at work, the sheer amount of times these folks mention China while acting like China is a failing country is pure comedy.

@hh0686

Don’t forget - the very same Chinese PHDs, engineers who are working for Facebook and Google - are exactly the same group of PHDs who were raised in China.

So basically it’s Chinese engineers in the US vs Chinese engineers in China

@Joiyaaaa

OpenAI - Close and confidential
DeepSeek - Open and open-sourced
The irony!

@kyle_wan3329

As a Chinese person, I can confidently say that the majority of us do not view America as a threat. Instead, we see it as a strong competitor and a nation we respect and look up to in a healthy, constructive way. However, the increasingly hostile attitude that America has towards China is both upsetting and perplexing. It’s disheartening to see such tension when mutual respect and cooperation could benefit both nations.

@ixShannon

authoritarian open source versus democratic closed source. The irony

@EliaszPass

I am 53 and retired at 50. One thing I did do to retire early was to get out of the 401K and IRA programs. Bought rental real-estate and I am now a Limited Partner in about 1500+ units from collaborative efforts in the fund my estate planner has me invested in. I do not work.
