I am also a new grad dev, but not at a big company. It's been 6 months since I started my job and honestly a 9-5 really makes you appreciate the rest of the day so much. I'd highly suggest developing a good routine when the workload is light, a lot of my friends, including myself, ended up doom-scrolling after our work hours, I have been trying to break that cycle and start a routine relaxation time.

@the_humble_investor

Congrats. Don't forget to invest on your 401K. And if you have some money left invest in the stock market. After working for 32 years as a software engineer, I retired at 56 and enjoy life. Thanks to my investments.

@d8eea

Congrats! you look truly excited about what life is giving you and this spreads good vibes, I want to give some advices about not burning out in 2 years like many SWE :

1) do breaks: every 50 minutes take 10 minute and get some fresh air or some water (maybe avoiding social media)
2) do not work too much just because you feel like you should, amazon will survive anyway
3) make connections with people from other departments
4) ask me for a tool to help with this

good luck!

@Aleksandra-fw1uz

Please keep recording! Your video helped me with the anxiety I’ve been feeling since tomorrow is my first day as a frontend developer! I’m super excited and nervous at the same time. Your video eased some of my overthinking and fear of the unknown. You’re still about 10 days ahead of me in this journey, so please keep going! 😄
Love from Serbia <3

@yelgabs

Your must be a really good developer! With this economy and you getting a new grad role, amazing! Congrats!

@reinen9006

She must be a 10x engineer cause to get a job in this economy is amazing

@MikeDent

this reminds me of getting my first job, always being tired in the evening. It passes and you get used to it. Well done.

@AnotherReasonToLive-21

Hey. this reminded me of my first day at Amszon 3years ago. I never filmed it but I wish I could've. I had the same energy almost. The first day I was coding for a internal hackthon till 9pm. so.. xd But I learnt a lot and I wouldnt trade it for anything/ Just dont forget to take care of mental health and its not supposed to be your next 30 years unless you want it to. I left 2 years in for studying and more. Enjoy though, being a new fte just feels so good and is once in lifetime phase!!!

@shan504

Good for you for recording this and sharing your experience. I totally get the idea of "oh this is for the next 30 years", but I've been in tech for 2 years, and I'm still adjusting everyday to new things and learning so I think it's a journey, but hey I don't really know either. I think it's smart you're opening up and sharing, I hope I can do that more, but you're doing A-okay!

@saint_ruth1691

Best of luck! I've been a software engineer since 1993 and it's a great job. I think the job will change far more between 2025 and 2058 than it did between 1993 and 2025!

@-H30

Your positivity and confidence really shows, makes me smile :) Congrats on finding a position within Amazon and best of luck! Cheers

@et2931

Smart tip - you won't work like that for next 30yrs.
U will quickly realise that it is only a smart part of your journey :)
I don't know how it looks like in USA but in EU one of the best approach is to start around 6 A.M - it won't fit all but I highly recommend to give it a try for a week or two :)

@pureniku

I’m happy for you I’m a aspiring software engineer, I just started learning from a online course a little over two weeks ago.

@MrRafael1912

Congrats on joining as full time! Hope your time at Amazon goes well!

@hectorohh

Great place, really enjoyed the hour they give you during work hours to go learn about some random thing within the company. Congrats!

@setacarinae6597

Appreciate how you vlogged even tho you were tired

You go girl💗✨

@florianstephan5745

Congrats for Amazon, regrets for onsite work 9-5...working from home 90% during my last 30 years as a Computer Scientist (MSc) knowing how valuable home office is. Switched from employed to freelancer after first 2 years, that's how I did it... All the best in your IT career!

@ralphlucio14

Congrats on your new role! I'm starting at Amazon in February as a new grad, too. I'm super excited, and I hope it's similar to my internship!

@ironically_mahi

Your's such an inspiration gurl... I am gonna start my Amazon internship from January soo excited.. Gonna try hard to get the FTE role also please keep making content like these...
