The era that most current fans grew up with is the best- the current fans
You could make an exact video as this for the 90’s. Same type of clips and narration. -era of Gretzky. Lemieux, Jagr, Yzerman, Fedorov, -arguably the best goalies in Hasek, Brodeur, and of course Roy. (Plus many others) -rangers first cup in x years -red wings first cup in x years -Colorado Detroit rivalry. McCarty’s revenge on Claude L, then scoring game winner. -99 retiring -Quebec relocation, 1st yr cup. -expansion teams and relocation. -hockey to the desert -hockey to Florida -the Mighty Ducks movies and subsequent franchise. The video you could make arguing for the 90’s would be amazing. The problem with a lot of young fans, is they haven’t seen a lot of this and a lot isn’t easily available in quality video. But if you were there at the time, you know.
nostalgia bias is real in the poll, and we've barely had 3 years of 20s hockey. 10s definitely gave the sport a new breath of life though
I watched a lot of hockey in 2010s and although it was good and the star power was there, I do think this era could be better with scoring levels getting higher and the quaity of talent incoming. I'd also say the 90s were far better than the 2010s. The highest quality of talent, a multitude of historic moments, and great rivalries.
I'd have to agree that the 2010s was the best era. There were historic playoff runs, be it the Sharks and Predators first making it to the final, the Blues historic run, and last and certainly not least (I'm a Pens fan) is seeing Pittsburgh become the first back-t-back campions in the Salary Cap Era. I also feel that the broadcasters during this time also contributed immensely to capturing these incredible moments. The ESPN broadcasters simply do not hold a candle to Doc Emerick, Dave Strader or Bob Cole.
Awesome video 👏👏 Man I miss the 2010’s. That Martienez 2 ot cup clincher still gives me chills!
Personally, 90s NHL is comparable to 80s NFL. Red Wings=49ers, Avalanche= Giants, Devils= WFT. Eric Lindros & Jeremy Roenick were “Dan Marino clones” excellent players who never won the title. In general the amount of HOF talent was insane…
Every age group will answer differently for the most part. As well as fans of every team will answer differently.
nice video but remember most of your audience is young I'd imagine and it's not surprising why 2010s would win cause of nostalgia if you ask us in 20 years what the best decade is it might be the 2020s
I miss the 90s. Maybe I’m just old. 😂
Did you watch the NHL in the 90s? There were a ton a special players. Lemieux, Gretzky, Bure, Hull, Roenick, Yzerman, Federov, Kovalev, Modano, Selanne etc
Statistics show physicality is getting more and more frequant
2000s were also different and more physical, as that was the years when Sidney Crosby was getting bullied for being so damn good. Like his rookie season but still hit 100 points, no rookie has ever been bullied like that now a days.
Everyone thinks the hockey they watched when they were young was the best era. 20 years from now a new bunch will complain about missing 2020s hockey.
Rangers vs Devils Conference Final Battle was one of the best series I’ve ever seen. You see the emotion on the players faces after they won that it meant more to them than most playoff series do.
I'm definitely biased because I'm a Blues fan, but it felt like 2019 was the end of an era when it comes to hockey. Hockey will never be the same
the 2010s was dope asf man very little players getting 100+ points and lotta checking and fighting. I ofc didn't get to experience the 90s or 80s but those sounded like dope times too. Ofc the rivalry with Ovechkin, Crosby and Stamkos all 1st overall picks int their respective drafts will go down as an era for the ages. Ever since covid started, literally everyone is scoring 100+ points whether it is by goals or assists and I never thought Id say this but tbh when you have too much star power it doesn't provide a team to win cups. Look at the Lightning and how since 2015 they have been to 4 cup finals 2015, 2020, 2021 and 2022, win 2, lose 2 and 6 conference finals also 2016 or 2018 or red wings and penguins back to back finals in 2008 and 2009 or the Blackhawks from 2009-2017 with 3 cup finals in 2010, 2013 and 2015 and wins and 5 conference finals also 2009 and 2014 or the bruins between 2011 and 2019 with 3 cup finals in 2011, 2013 and 2019 thats cause these respective teams had a healthy mix of star power and depth not a lot of one and very little the other. Tampa actually is a dynasty to me at least cause like I said 4 cup finals in less than a decade. During the second half of the 2010s and the first half of the 2020s they look the league by a storm with playoff runs as a result. This def is one especially if the kings going to 2 in only 3 seasons and winning both in both the early and mid 2010s is considered one. Epic video altogether and this info not at all surprising as biased as that sounds lol since I only started following the game in late 2009/early 2010
The best era of NHL hockey was the 70s. Today's game is simply less fun.
This is the era that made me fall in love with hockey. I’m not sure if we’re ever going to experience this type of play ever again. As a Blackhawks fan I feel so lucky to have grown up with the dynasty years and have that be a factor of a huge part of my childhood. I’m nearing adulthood but I’m sure that Bedard will be the face of the league for the next 15-20 years and will galvanize an entirely new generation of hockey fans. I’m only 7 months younger than Connor but I believe the new dynasty will coming soon.
