@itsDoomGuysCat

As a natural, ive been lifting for over 15 years. The last 2 years, I tried a version that follows similar principles and am out of the gym within 40 min. My strength shot up 25% and I was finally able to bench 405.

@theturtle9800

I like mentzers ideas a lot. However the once every 4-7 days thing seemed insane so i looked for something that seemed less extreme and found out about how yates trained. Im giving his routine a go for 2 months

@zeeski7454

He also promoted what worked best for you. If you don't need 3 days to recover then go to the gym when you can, or increase the intensity you do need more time to recover. Your cadence also seemed quicker than Mentzer wrote about

@rozermarkanthony1270

Thank you so much for agreeing with the idea .
Initially i started with you , following your training and splits .
Later came to know about Mike and in no time became obsessed with his ideas and approach .
I still watch your videos for alternatives and versatility .
Thankyou so much for doing this short shot.this does not make it appear that majority of people in this field are illiterate but actually understands the correct approach and terminology to be used not based on their experience and philosophy but on the basis of Exercise Science.

Don’t knock it until you try it. I am experiencing better gains than when I was in the gym five days. My body feels better, I feel stronger, and I look good. Most of the people knocking his program have never tried it because they just can’t fathom being out of the gym for so long.

@JGD185

Even though I don't strictly follow HIT, Mentzer's teachings have at least made me more aware of increasing the intensity of my workouts. It's an amazing variable to play around with and has huge benefits when used properly. For an exercise I'd rather do a few very intense sets than a bunch of mediocre sets.

@PWizz91

Dorian Yates nailed and perfected what mentzer was all about

@BrakkuRaion8

It works bro, been doing my version of it with great results. I only hit the gym twice a week with plenty of time to take care of other tasks

@SkynetT800

I'm glad someone asked that question.

@zicowilco60

Mike mentzer won a MR OLYMPIA..when you can do that i will listen ..until then i will continue listening to HIM 😮

@HULKSALAMi

Nah, this dude is right. The principles are great, but Mike def went off the deep end with his ideas on frequency. Workouts should be brief and intense, but frequency is pivotal for strength and hypertrophy. Just insert a rest day after every workout for systemic recovery, and keep it rolling fellas. If you're on a bro split, that's fine. Instead of working that muscle once every seven days, you'd just be working it every eight days. If you're on a full body, you'd literally be doing what Colbert, Reeves, Park, Grimek, etc. recommended. Don't get caught up in the HIT dogma guys. Lift like you normally would, just implement single sets to failure, rest every other day, and stay with it.

Bro finally did a video to calm down all Mike meatriders in Pete's comment section

In first grade, you learn you can add 1 + 2 and get 3, and you learn you can't subtract 2 from 1. But in the second grade, you learn you can subtract 2 from 1 = -1.

In the 3rd grade, you learn you can multiply and divide. In the 4th grade, you learn you can square and get square roots. You learn you can get the square root of 4, which is 2. But you are taught you can't get the square root of -1.

Then, in higher math you learn that the square root of -1 is I (or j if you do electrical work). Little i is used to cross over into the imaginary plane. Every AC circuit in the world has j as a fundamental principle.

If you're a beginner train like a beginner not a 30 year PED using gym veteran. If you're a PED using 30 year gym veteran don't train like a beginner.

The converse of knowing your target audience is knowing when you are or are not that target audience.

@therehastobesomethingmoore

Worked for Mike, for Dorian, and many others.
Working for me. I love it ! I am 61 and have a life outside the gym. No desire to spend 20 hours a week there.
I guess everyone needs to find what works for them.

@GregPaxson

Ive been doing mike Mentzers HD ideal program for about 4 months now. 72-96 hours between ttaining sessions. Hitting each body part about once every 10-12 days. Ive made progress every single workout. I think when i was training 6 days a ween for 1-2 hours a session... it was just too much for my body to recover... as i dont really sleep much. Anyway, im happy with Mikes program so far.

@tylerscott2116

His initial Heavy Duty workout and his eventual Heavy Duty workout are 2 different things. His Heavy Duty when he was competitive was great.

@jimjim5245

Mentzer was also training people with extremely long time under tension reps. If you see his limited training footage he did not do this himself.

@jamesberg2226

This is a polite way of saying, "I dont think about Mike Mentzer's training ideas " 💀
