Rule of thumb: never get more gear unless you’re wanting to do something that you absolutely can’t cover with what you have already. If stores like Radio Shack still existed, I’d go on to suggest you make that new thingy you really need.
Nice advice Sir Warren! Minimal gear, maximal creativity & focus
It's about whatever drives you to make and work on music.

What use is loads of gear if it's not being utilized fully?
I actually find it easier to work with less expensive gear. Working with top shelf stuff always builds up a lot of pressure. I feel it’s easier with the cheap stuff, because you automatically focus more on the things that really matter.
“Playing With Myself” by Konstantin Polyakov is my proudest work. I dont have much equipment but a lot of talent! One man band! Im on YouTube, Spotify!
Gear doesn't write amazing songs... But it can definitely help make an amazing song sound great!
It's not about the gear. It's about the ear
"Its not about the gear" says everyone with an amazing collection of gear. Even a bare minamum setup with something like an 18i20, a set of xlrs, 8 cheap mics, a midrange laptop/PC, and mic stands is more money than the vast majority of people can afford without saving for quite awhile. Theres a reason the people who who dont have good gear record almost exclusively DIY tier punk bands.
The rules have changed. It's the about the creativity, and the medium might happen to be a Short.
Keep up the good work guys. 🎸🎶🎶O O Oh listen to the music🎶🎶🎶
Where is the great music being hidden?
Give me a cheap Chinese microphone, cheap Behringer USB audio interface, and Pro Tools with the plug-ins that come with the program, a DAW controller so I can ride levels and have automation, and I'll give you a radio-quality song.
Elitist gearheads. think the listener cares that they spent half $1 million on their studio. Great video.
