The torrent of industrial output was simply amazing.
The USS North Carolina was the first battleship that got 16" guns. Those guns could turn 9 acres of ground into hell every 40 seconds from 20 miles away. The North Carolina was the first new battleship to enter Pearl Harbor after Dec. 7th. The Iowa class still gets all the press, but the other BB's had fought much of war, before the Iowa's arrived. Especially before it was clear who was going to win. How about a video giving the ships of the late 1930's some credit, instead of the late arrivals. The surrender was signed on the Missiouri, because it represented Truman's home state. There were many more deserving ships for this honor!
Born 15 years after WW2, the war was still a hot topic in society, we forget that there are other countries that would kill you or me because we're Americans. God bless the United States of America πΊπΈπ
Suggestion for a video would be the US Navy fast support train of fast oilers, munitions and provisions cargo ships. Connected to that would be US Navy underway replenishment that really were steps ahead of the rest of the world's navies.
Very good one!
It would interesting to know what level of combat losses the navy was projecting in early 43 for the fleet under construction
Thank You.
Suggestion: Should the battleships been in pearl in 41
Have a dear friend who served on the USS Dewy in the 1960s. Would enjoy hearing about the flat bottoms.
10:32 Interesting that this disapproval came before the dire losses at Leyte, Mindoro and Okinawa to Kamikaze attacks. 1943 estimates of losses were sorely wrong, given the Olympic and Coronet actions later planned.
My Father, his father and my great Grandfather fought for the service and he. Was exemption having to serve because of Andrew Jackson and his Indian removal Act so yeah now everything is gone
Royal Navy......LOL
