"If buying is not owning, piracy is not stealing"

@Coldfirebe

The best part of that "piracy is stealing" ad is the fact that they didnt have the licence to use the music used in it, so they got sued

@zfalcon1

I’ve said this for years. Streaming services forgot that their biggest competition is free.

@WalkerRileyMC

Back when Amazon successfully argued in court you were 'borrowing' e-books you bought and they had the right to delete them from your tablet at any time, that's when I knew it was never going to work.

@Yam2kz

We paid for no ads. Now we're paying for ads. We just went from free tv to paying for free tv

@voteDC

Reminds me of what Gabe Newell of Valve said back in 2011 “One thing that we have learned is that piracy is not a pricing issue. It's a service issue".

@blue_acid

I began pirating because of convenience, now I do it for archival reasons.

@Nefi424

Multiple payed streaming services now purposefully interrupt movies in their climax just to show ads. That's an immediate cancellation right there.

@KAZVorpal

The worst thing is when you pay for "AD FREE" service,
but they start showing ads anyway and say:
"These aren't ads:
They're promos!"

@hockysa

These companies will never see themselves as part of the problem.

@lippi2171

Netflix literally feels like it has 12 movies and 20 series in total and it's never the one you're looking for

@warster321

I used to share my netflix password with my mom, so when netflix started charging 3x the price, I thought to myself... "it's not just me that's enjoying it, right?" Now they cracked down on sharing, so I disconnected. netflix lost me as a customer. I was one of the first people doing DVD mailers (6 out at a time), first to pick up streaming at the same time as DVD's, (I even paid extra to have HD in 4 rooms at a time). Now I do not have netflix, and neither does mom. 17 years of loyal uninterrupted payments, and now I'm gone.

@JustaGuy_Gaming

The worst part of the early 2000's anti piracy commercials.. they were on the Dvd's you just bought. With new lock technology so you can't even skip or fast forward through them.. You were punished for actually buying the real product.

@dgurevich1

“We’re gonna need a bigger hard drive”

@thomassophiea

Most Hollywood movies these days are not worth pirating.

@corsetedwasteland2630

I used to nag my husband for pirating films back in the day. Now I'm grateful that we have so many movies and TV shows that are hard to find (if they're even available) & a lot of the classics, B-movies and documentaries that would air on PBS. I'm a full believer that "if buying is not owning, piracy is not stealing". If I buy a movie from Amazon or YT and they remove it, I'm pirating it immediately and I'm just getting what I already purchased.

@MyReviews_FOSS

I don't even pirate actually. I just stopped watching TV altogether. I now play games, watch YouTube and read a lot of books

@lxinator

Best weapon they introduced against piracy is that they stopped making movies people want watch!

@primeral

What's stupid* is car companies are trying to make vehicle ownership a subscription experience 🙄

@Dumpstertrash27

I bought a NAS, and pirate EVERYTHING. Not only that, but I set up a plex server, and now host my own Netflix, and share it with friends. I'm pirating for several people who aren't tech-savvy.

Piracy is the future.
