You can add some chia seeds to your jam to thicken it as well.

@poppyseed389

The irony of you running out to do firefighter work while leaving your dinner cooking and oven on at home 😂

@CCGG-w3b

I used to buy meat on sale and fill my freezer. Since last year, I realized that in winter, fruits and vegetables are now very expensive and rarely on sale (I mean, a great bargain). So, last summer/fall, I filled my freezer with fruits and vegetables and waited for the meat sales during winter time. That saved me so much money because meat is regularly on sale, any season. But fruits/vegetables are cheap only in summer/fall.
Also, eat seasonally: in summer, eat your heart out on lettuce and tomatoes, but in winter eat more root vegetables. Again, you save a lot!

Frugal Fit Mom is another good source for money saving tips. Hope that helps.

4:24 it's Pasta a la Dependza - what's in it? Dependza what's in the fridge!

@JamieAdams-vj8xs

We have nights where we eat out of the freezer to get rid of stuff that's open or only has enough left in it for one person. I call those nights "a freeze for all" :)

@beckymay439

Lentil Hack: Cook a big batch, freeze 1/2 cup portions in silicone muffin cups, toss a 2-4 lentil pucks into every ground beef recipe, tacos, spaghetti, meatloaf. The family will never know!

One of my favorite things is when you have a small amount of vegetables left after a meal, put them in a container, and freeze them. The next time, put the leftover veggies right on top of the frozen ones, repeat. When you have enough, make vegetable soup!

@kyliecallaway5273

Also for leftovers, we have found if he separate food into basically mini meals we will eat all the leftovers! For example if you made something that you serve on rice. Rather than serve then separately put them in individual portions together so you just have to pull it out and heat it in the microwave. Our food waste has been cut in half!

@breyette4697

Jam is also so good mixed with yogurt! You can get the cheap, bulk plain yogurt and dress it up with your jam to make it fancy and delicious! My mom would also use it for thumbprint cookies, so easy and delicious.

@angelacole7201

If you add cottage cheese to pasta it dissolves and is amazing. I also add lentils and garbanzo beans to the pasta salad too. Goes farther and doesn’t change pasta salad feel.

@BreeSB

Yes to the Lentils! I add lentils to so many things and people hardly notice! Especially things like pasta sauce, chili curry and stews where it only adds to make it better!

@ErinLy

We just had a really busy 6 months. I made a 2 weeks meal plan, so we only had the same meal 2x per month. Once I bought the initial groceries, I just tell Alexa to add an item to my grocery list when I finish it off because I know I'll need it again within 2 weeks. I only shopped Food Basics and Costco. When you stick to 14 meals you'll use up your Costco items!

@amandazplace5663

A got a great tip years ago on meal planning for people with A.D.D.
Write the name of every family fav dinner on individual pieces of paper. Fold the papers & put them in a container with a lid. Give it a good shake. As you pull out each piece of paper, write them in order on a calendar for the week's menu. You can do this for 1 week, 2, or more. Done! Keep the pieces of paper in the jar for the next round.🇨🇦♥️🇺🇲

@thelvey1

Rather than lentils, I like to add riced cauliflower to ground meat to extend it. It is barely noticeable and adds some good nutrition.

@ingridhudson8497

I usually have leftovers for lunch the next day, but if there’s several different items from cooking or take out we have what we call a weekend “leftover palooza” which is a group of tasting portions for a fun lunch.

@thelvey1

If you have a favorite pickle brand, once the jar is finished, slice up a cucumber and put them in for a quick pickle version. Eat em up within a week. We only do it once, then buy a new jar.

@kerrikozakiewicz2047

I always try and cook enough for two nights at once. It saves on electricity. I also cook up a lot hamburger. This is good for hamburger stroganoff, spaghetti, tacos, homemade hambuger helper, chili, among other dishes. I will have to try adding lentils. When I first got married mt husband said I made oat loaf. I put a lit of oats to stretch out the meatloaf. Thanks for the grear video!
