the time competitive LoL looked exactly like my normal games. "there were three smites and no junglers on the team" just perfect
I love how this game has gone through so many different awful metas, the title does not really tell at all what period of time we’re talkin about lmao
The funny thing is that in DotA the entire game revolves around funneling, they don't call positions by mid-laner or ad carry but instead position 1 ~ 5 which stands for the amount of resources that player needs. Pos 1 is the safe lane carry, 2 is mid, 3 is off laner, 4 is off lane support, 5 is safe lane support. In DotA jungle camps spawn exactly every minute, and you can lure the jungle creeps out of spawn area right before their respawn time to let new sets of creeps spawn at the same location, this is called jungle stacking and support players usually stack up a huge camp for their carry to collect later (there usually no dedicated jungler in DotA)
This meta made me quit League, and it altered my life forever. My family and children, my job, my house. It gave me everything. I will owe funnel meta forever, and I've willed everything to it when I die.
me seeing someone even mention the words "Twisted Treeline" IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL tear
Hopefully our small indie company could find a fix for this
I love how everyone was taken by suprise by this. I have played mainly Twisted Treeline, even before the map rework. The funneling was there for about 6 years, and Riot didnt touch the mode for around the same time. It was basically the strat that was played in 80% of the games. When players started to play this on 5v5, the 3v3 players knew instantly what to do, and started playing accordingly. I remember how we saw the Yi + Taric in a ranked game, so we shut it down lvl 3 and made them take nothing, as they only knew how to play it if there was no counterplay. We started to ban the normal stuff that was played and it was super funny to see people not knowing what to do, but to plays normally while we could funnel with a big poll of champs. The fact that Riot didnt care so much about 3v3 that they even didnt know that this stuff is there for years will never stop being funny to us, and we really feel that Riot deserves all the hate from everyone for not taking care of it earlier.
Dota 2: You merely adopted the funnel. I was born in it, molded by it.
another big thing about this meta, is the support income item "relic shield" was turbo broken at that point too.
Riot just kept repeatedly breaking the game in 2018 with bonkers patch changes like nerfing all adc's base AD and attack speed to the point that they just did no damage for most of the game. What a terrible year for the game
love how memes pereodically pop up during your fully punctual narration
I've stopped playing LoL in S9 and I came back last year for a few months and your videos always hit me with nostalgia since I've been playing since S1. It's fun to look back at the game back when I played it and have flashbacks from the stupid shit me and my friends experienced when we were teens playing this game. Thank you so your content
I find it funny how the funneling strategy basically sounds like Dota2 gameplay lol
I didn't play during the funnel meta, and it's interesting how a dota style strat looks in league.
19:00 I love how riot called the jungle change an 'ugly temporary band aid fix', yet the same mechanic still exists in the game completely unchanged to this day
Have to agree on the last points. I don’t like the strangle hold that league tends to have pn strstegy evolution but funneling just isn’t healthy for a wide variety of reasons.
Dam I miss Twisted Treeline 😢
Hi Myth, i found your channel about 2 days ago abd have binged nearly all of it as back ground audio for work. Just finished the T1 video and i dont know if you still plan to talk about league streamers but Tobias Fate could be a fun one. He went from mega toxic high elo to finding inner peace by playing what he wants not caring about elo. It may be a fun story to cover.
I don't play league. I only play Dota. but I love watching your videos because you have a good way of storytelling. I wish dota had more creators covering topics like you.
