In 1969 I was a high school freshman, a trombone player and very much into music. I played in band, jazz ensemble, brass chorale, stage band, any group arrangements, any type of music…I just loved to play. One day I am walking past a radio station and a guy comes out with black album and says “hey kid, want this”. Both loving music and being broke, I immediately said yes. I had never heard of the group, which sounded like a public service department, but as soon as I got home I dropped it on my fold out record player, set the needle on song one and, OH MY DEAR GOD, this song came out of the built in speakers! It was unbelievable, I LOVED these guys! Fast forward 53 years and here I am blessed to find this remarkable group with an incredible love and respect for Chicago as well as one of the greatest eras of American music. Spasibo, my friends!
Wow, wow, wow. That's all folks!!!
I did not believe this song could be covered by anyone, ever. You totally nailed it. Bravo!
If anyone wonders what it means when a band is described as “tight”, Leonid & Friends is Exhibit “A”. Simply amazing musicianship...
As usual Igor playing like a BOSS.
Boys and girls, this is the very FIRST song by the group then known as Chicago Transit Authority. Imagine, opening up the double album, placing the first disc on the turntable. On goes the needle to side one, track one and THIS song comes pouring out of the speakers. Mind blowing!! One of my top songs by Chicago.
Saw them the other night in Nashville. They opened with this. Magical night.
When a philharmonic orchestra plays Mozart it is not a cover, but a performance. These musicians are performing music by Chicago. I have listened to Chicago for over 50 years. Every album, 1000's of times. They are outstanding.
I am 63, a fan of Chicago since I was around 14, I am impressed, close my eyes and listen, I really can't tell a difference!
This talented group of musicians isn't just a cover band... they literally bring Chicago back to life!
No lags, no missed chords or dropped notes; these cats are as tight as it gets and the horn section can blow away anybody.
Terry Kath’s 75th birthday today. This cover is a Great tribute and Gift. “From Russia with Love”
I know they are all talented musicians, but that drummer just kills it. Kudos!
You do know. you make this old man happy, taking him back to '69 ....... an Lp I've still got and love ....... magic ...
The genius of Terry Kath! This song is a showcase for just about everything that made Chicago great. The changes in time signature, the heavy guitar, the brass. This song has it all and you guys performed it with aplomb. Fantastic job! Sergeys Kath t-shirt is great too! Now then, still waiting for your cover of Tower of Power's "What Is Hip?" Show us that funk!
I wish that Chicago had written more songs as I don’t want the covers to run out! These guys are awesome!
As always, everyone was fantastic, but I got to say, Sergey on guitar wearing that Kath shirt, it's like Kath is playing through him! Wow! That kid is beyond fantastic!
Love Vasily's voice. That was the sound back in the 70s.
The entire band is outstanding. Vasily Akimov's voice is incredible. And Ksenia Buzina not only has a great singing voice (though she doesn't sing in this video) but she is one of the most beautiful women in the world.
