I have so much respect for Steve Furber and all of his work in computers, from the BBC micro to the ARM chip. I still own an Acorn Electron, and it still works.

I'm still using my three BBC B's. With MMC storage. What a great man.

@MikePerigo

I absolutely love this interview. A 'behind the scenes' story about the development of the ARM chip by the man himself.
My only gripe is with the description above. It uses a lower case k when mentioning the MK14 Microcomputer Kit. Using this format results in people mistakenly referring to it as the Mark 14. Even Jason gets it wrong despite Steve repeatedly calling it the M.K.14 :)

@judgewest2000

Fabulous interview. Would love to see a follow up of his thoughts of 4K TV now it's here

@SparkyLabs

Why do people keep saying that we have lost all of this ability to program stuff and that things are too complicated? In this day and age you can buy an ARM chip for a few quid including RAM and ROM and do low level programming. You can make something cheaper than a BBC micro and be able to do exactly the same.
