@Heavi

Which Iron Maiden singer is the best?

@tonytellez1575

I met Bruce in Tucson, Arizona in 1987. He just did a sound check, and went walking outside the venue when I met him. It was a cold day, and he was wearing his stage clothes looking for a newspaper. He asked me where he could find one, and I showed him. When Bruce left, my friend said to me that was a nice thing you did for that homeless guy. I took my friend to the show because my friend wasn't an Iron Maiden fan YET, and we were in the front. Bruce saw us, and he pointed to us then gave us the thumps up sign. My friend was shocked with a big smile on his face, and I had one as well. I didn't need an autograph, picture, or anything that day, but to have Bruce Dickinson called me mate, and point us out at the show was awesome. If you read this far, or skipped to now, it doesn't matter which singer is the best, or which band members have come and gone. The point is that it took all of them to make Iron Maiden the band it is now. Just enjoy the music, shows, and memories they gave, and give us in this life. Party on, Dudes!

@biorythmicshifter

He has nothing left to prove. He’s accomplished being enough. Growing up he was literally a superhero to me, still is…he continues to be an inspiration.

@poggerwhite

Bruce Dickinson is a music legend hands down

@metaljenn82

Iron Maiden deserves to be in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Very surprised that this has not been done. They're one of the most iconic metal bands in the World!

@MVProfits

I didn't even think Bruce was forced to forego the pilot thing because of age. I understand the logic, but make 60+ yo pilots pass rigorous physical tests yearly if they want to keep their license, that's all. We all know Bruce is fit AF. When you can give all out metal performances 4-5 days a week, that's a good sign ha ha

@nickknee3515

The story about Clive put a tear in my eye. I had heard he died back in '13 but I didn't know he had MS and I didn't know that the band put together a charity for him. That's super sweet of them to do that for a former band mate, just shows that here was still some love for Clive in the band.

@krupkamusic

Just saw Maiden in Chicago, and I honestly can easily say best live show of my life so far. The Pyrotechnics, the aces high prop plane, bruce shooting fire and battling giant eddie while singing, all things ive never seen in a live show. Blessed. Up the Irons!

Iron Maiden is one of the best rock-n-roll bands in the history of music.
it's not measured by money or sales. It's measured by impact on their fans.
it's all on a heightened level unobtainable, but by very few bands, and all accumulated by one
Iron Maiden

@wanderer1955

Saw Maiden in the Cart and Horses pub in Stratford East London in 1976. My schoolmate, Paul Day was on vocals duty!! Wish I had paid more attention 😪

Some other details:
Clive Burr's partner also suffered from MS.
Paul DiAnno has been receiving treatment for his ruined knees in anticipation of eventual surgery, which was being crowdsourced. He met with Steve Harris and the two had a good meeting, culminating with the announcement that Iron Maiden would cover the remainder of Paul's surgery.
The Ed Force One airliner shown in the video was a 747, the Queen of the Skies. The first Ed Force One was indeed a 757, but it was a tight fit for the band and their things, thus the considerably larger 747 was used for the Book of Souls tour. While Bruce was recovering from his cancer treatment, he trained on and was certified to fly the 747.
Bruce owns an aviation simulator business in England that trains airline pilots on various aircraft. One of the buildings and simulator can be seen in former Maiden singer Blaze Bayley's video for Escape Velocity. The two singers regard each other highly and remain friends to this day.
According to the book Run For Cover by Martin Popoff, Derek Riggs was burnt out after years of nonstop Eddies for Iron Maiden and had to stop. This led to the Fear of the Dark artwork being created by Melvyn Grant. The cover of the eponymous first album features the first "Eddie" that Riggs painted. It was originally titled "Electric Matthew Says Hello".
Blaze Bayley and Janick Gers wrote Como Estas Amigos about the aftermath of the Falklands War between Great Britain and Argentina after touring a war memorial to the war in Buenos Aires.
Nicko McBrain appeared on a 1980s episode of The Sooty Show, a long-running children's puppet show of which he was a childhood fan. After this appearance, the character Sooty adorned his drum kit, often dressed in outfits reflective of the band's current tour. Sooty still holds station to this day and has become an unofficial second mascot.

I'm 50 and play guitar and bass. Maiden was my inspiration from about 83 til present...although I went a different way in music like death metal and really heavy stuff even industrial electronic metal...I always come back to Iron Maiden. I love everything they've ever done and every member change as well! 🤘

@SonnyGTA

Bruce’s parents accidental conception of Bruce is unreal. They didn’t know they had just created a Rock God that would influence countless people and change metal for ever!

@rwhitely2288

Maiden got me passing grades on a lot of history exams.

@christschinwon

Clive was surely in the band from '79 to '82. He played up to 11(!) but wasn't with them for 11 years

@clintonreisig

I am a Christian. I hear art in Iron Maiden. It is hard to make a case for their not being the greatest Metal band of all time.

@jimmy2minutes

I worked with a lad. We were really good mates at work and had a top laugh. I used to bring in my music and he brought his. He got me into Maiden. Then he decided to start a band as a bass player. He couldn't play so soon became the singer and song writer. He's called Aaron Stainthorpe. He's the lead singer in " My Dying Bride". The same band. It's death metal. Thing is he is mega funny. It's all an act of sorts. He just made the music his life because he's an intelligent guy. Took a chance when there was fuck all else to do and pulled it off. Super proud of him and not seen Azz for ages. Glad he's made good from his passion. I wouldn't listen to Maiden without him.

@hphoenix7974

Iron Maiden are beyond fabulous, I was lucky enough to met Clive Burr in Norfolk where he was coming for Respite, he signed my precious Leather Jacket, priceless. I am so fortunate to have met him ✨ 🙏 💕

@simcaptainrik

Well done. Except one thing. The footage of Ed Force One is a Boeing 747 versus the 757 mentioned. They used the 757 first and the 747 more recently.
