When you have both multiplication and division and/or both addition and subtraction, you have to do them left to right so that the answer is a whole number no matter what! I used to refuse to do that because of my autism and the lack of explanation of why those couples must be done left to right. If I still refused to follow that rule, I’m sure that karma would catch up to me meaning that I would lose all the points on a math exam for just one mistake!
