Bro this is a criminally underrated video. Retro Dark Fantasy blowing up on Tiktok rn, this might blow up. Its why I'm here
Now if we can get a 90s cyberpunk iceberg that would be lit.
Dark Fantasy is awesome, my major gripe is the lack of antagonist creativity. If you excluded movies about defeating a one-dimensionally evil sorcerer who wants to bring darkness to the world, then this video would be like 30 minutes.
Big Trouble in Little China has always been a favirite of mine, I never qyestioned anything about it until i tried to show it to a friend..."Whys he trying to act like John Wayne?" "Whats this have to do with Kurt Russell?" "How does everyone know Karate?" Said friend went on to catch a throat punch😅
The never ending story is one of my favorite childhood movies. Probably because my dad used to always play it for me lots of good memories.
why did the intro give me goosebumps
6:26 The Narnia TV miniseries is pretty weird as far as TV miniseries go, because it's technically lost media. The mastertape was accidently destroyed some years ago, meaning that the DVD copies are the only copies which still exist.
The amount of work that goes into these videos must not be easy, because they are great. We appreciate the time and effort that you put into these, as someone who has done some editing of videos before, I know that it is a long process and not something that is easy to do. Great job on this retrospective, it's definitely a great one. I and everyone that is subscribed to your channel, appreciate all the hard work that goes into making these videos. 💯👏👍😀
The Neverending Story, or the original text source the film was based on, was meant to be a cautionary tale about children, or people in general, losing faith as they grow up and endure the troubles of the real world. No matter how much you try to sugar-coat that journey your life becomes, it will always end in disappointment or loss. That's the real story that never ends.
I’ve wondered about this in passing. I always enjoyed the dark crystal, willow, never ending story and labyrinth growing up, but I never understood that side of it. I always figured it was lsd once I grew up. Kid of reminds me of the monsters those bands conjure up.
3:27 I would also note that the original novel by William Goldman has a similar framing device-- Goldman himself claiming to be abridging the work of the author S. Morgenstern, a Florinese author whose novel was a work of satire, Goldman's aim being to recreate the version of the story told to him as a child by his father. It's a really clever piece of metafiction which deepens your immersion in the story even more than the film does-- the film, I would note, was actually written by Goldman himself, a rare case of an author adapting their own work for the screen.
It's probably just me, but a lot of these movies are less dark fantasy films and more fantasy films that have dark moments.
this intro edit is FIRE, please release a full version 😭
I think you should do a video called “Every Aesthetic explained” because (like music genres) there are a TONE of aesthetics out there, And I also think it will go well with you’re channel
I can name one that's missing: The Fantastic Adventures Of Unico, which was the prequel to Unico In The Island Of Magic. I'm sure there might be a few others missing, but overall this seems like a pretty comprehensive list.
the algorithm has blessed me - what an incredible find thank you very much
man, make an iceberg in a 90s dark fantasy, please
Omg this video feels like it was made for me. Your channels gonna go places on god you work hardddd frfr ❤️love from uk 🇬🇧
11:45 Dune is Science-Fantasy, and that because Frank Herbert meant it as a more realistic take on earlier space operas such as Lensman and John Carter of Mars, which often did have light fantastical elements in them alongside the more technical details.
