@Teal_Blastoise

I was previously shamed by a hygienist in my teens because I had acid reflux. In light of acid reflux, I had healthy teeth.
In my adulthood, a hygienist wasn't too happy with me when it came to my dry mouth.

Thankfully at my current dental office, I'm not scolded for these things. I'm doing my best to manage them. I have an awesome hygienist and she hasn't gotten upset with me having these things.

As a male i had a nice young female dentist and i was terrified but she was so nice really helped me calm down talked me through everything ❤❤❤❤

@KurdMehran

as a dentist i must say dental hygienist is so much stress free than dentistry , i prefer it 100 much times than being a dentist

@ZepHezR

As a hygienist, this is a great list! I want to add that we also sometimes see people who are receiving terrible news about their oral health, and delivery of the details regarding that information (such as finding out you need a root canal or the extraction of a front tooth) may fall to the hygienist at times. Consoling patients, encouraging them to embrace big changes, and fully informing the patient is one of the skills which relies heavily on communication; however, empathy is a big part of instilling trust and confidence.

I was as a stand-still for a LONG time about what I've wanted to do with my life until recently (8years!.) I've come to seriously consider being a RDH. I hope I'm not too late haha. Everything about this profession just seems so fascinating! Thanks to your videos I've also been paying attention to the health of my teeth more often. Thank you for reading. Good health.

@ronvalic1973

I had the same lady dentist for 25 years and she retired, oh no, made me cry, and now I have to find a new dentist, so this video was very interesting to see for my new searches, thanks!

@khrystynaromanyuk9281

Thank you, Whitney!
I'm in Term 2 of DH program now, your videos are helpful and encouraging 😊

@Phoenix73456

Hey Whitney I love your videos and I've been following you for a while now. I will start my program in the next month and I'm so excited!
In our country (germany) you have to first be a dental assistant, which is a three-year-training and then you have to wait 2 years to gain expierence and become what we call a "dental prophylaxis assistant", wait for one year to gain experience again and then you can become a dental hygienist, which also takes a while to get that degree. Loooong way to go here but I think this will help the patients getting the best care possible.
Much love from Germany! 💕

I'm considering becoming an RDH, so this video was very informative. I'm starting college in the fall, where I will take my prerequisites which means I'm only at the beginning of my journey.

@mickefy

I’m nearly done with my prerequisites and this video DEFINITELY helped! So excited! 🎉❤
Thank you!

@Musical_Pigeon

I remember getting to know my RDH and at one point just asking "so you're like a tooth nurse, right" and she said "exactly". Last time I was at the dentist they had a newer RDH clean my teeth and the only thing I could think the whole time was how nice his eyebrows were.
I was supposed to go to my 6 month appointment a little over a year ago, but my job wouldn't let me have the day off to go, so I missed it. My parents didn't teach me how to care for my teeth growing up, so I'm trying to build the habits as an adult. I'm terrified to go back to the dentist because I don't want them to be mad at me for forgetting to brush my teeth all the time and I don't want them to have to scrape under my gums again. I want to be able to improve that before I go again, but don't know how.

@vicgamesvt9682

Thanks to your videos im thinking of beconing a dental hygenist but its a big decison so I really want to be educated on the field before pursuing it.

@TomTheDerpGuy

With pericoronitis can I just bite it off?

@Ohkeh640

My oral hygienist cleaned today and shortened my front teeth to match my side ones which were short without asking me I’m in bed crying! I have before photos in pics the first 2 teeth were longer

I’m so upset I only saw this after he cleaned and forced a natural plus whitening which I did

Front teeth hurt the most now

What can I do????? I want my longer teeth back I’m depressed

He shouldn’t have touched my teeth! I have scratches and dents that weren’t there either! That he made with dents!

I’m looking at selfies and my teeth were longer now they look rounded short and veneer like 😢😢😢
