I found pointing the mic at the sting midpoint works well. 12'th fret or neck meets the body is close. But when you capo, you need to move closer to the sound hole to get a well balanced tone.
Basic tips, super helpful. 👍
I was just needing that information. Thank you very much for the help ✨
Thanks for the great info!
Excellent info
You should PUT a BLANKER over the Microphone. Go on, Wizard Glick! Distance is depth. Put the microphone in line with the upper bout. Go on!
Hi, good information! Which mic works best in an untreated room? 240 pro or 440 pure? Thanks
12 inches away is often not an acceptable balance of room and direct sound in a small untreated room. I’ve achieved best results in my small untreated room with a very close mic position 4”-6” inches away aimed at the lower part of the body between the sound hole and where the fretboard meets body. Need pretty aggressive high pass filtering to make it work.
incredibly useful information. I have a question, is it ok to use pitch adjustment instead of a capo or different tuning in post production? Say I record in standard tuning, can I change the pitch later?
Nice 🎉 I have now Akg 170 but can you tell me how I could pair it with your mic example 440 and how I set up them? Example 440 to near bridge and p170 near 12th fret ? What do you recommend?
