Crazy thing about the skull crusher guns: Apparently the crushing part is more of a sacrifice to some eldritch power, and that is what causes the shards to become even more lethal and actually shoot to harm demons

@dovahkiin6105

"I actually have two skulls, and I refuse to elaborate on that."
He was not the first keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries museum in the UK.. that title is won through a long and bloody battle that uses every weapon within the museums collection.
The skulls of past keepers are kept as sacred relics, and as trophies.
It's a very hushed topic in the UK.

@Narofox1

I think an implication with the weapons is that Doom Guy himself had a hand in the shotguns and plasma weapons, sharing his knowledge of "classic tech" with the Sentinals. Man fought hell for so long he knows what works

@DR01D_Qs

The thing that was missed with the super shotgun is that there are 2 loading gates on the bottom of its wooden foregrip, so the mechanism is supposed to be of M1887's - this is a TUBE FED, DUAL MAGAZINES, DOUBLE BARREL, LEVER ACTION, FLINTLOCK shotgun

@DH-xw6jp

DoomSlayer: I need a weapon.

Shopkeep: sure thing, we have shotguns, nail guns, and woodchippers, see anything you like?

DoomSlayer: all of them.

19:21 This Is Jonathan Fergusen, The Keeper of Human Skulls

@SollowP

8:21 To quote Doom Eternal.
"There is only one dominant life form in this universe and it carries a steel-barreled sword of vengeance."

@RandomNobody-c3t

You know EXP loves DOOM when the team has a dedicated BFG Division cover for the intro

@Wutsizbukkit

7:18 too late, Jonathan Ferguson, keeper of firearms and artillery at the Royal Armouries in the UK, which houses a collection of thousands of iconic weapons from throughout history

@libertysmaug767

I absolutely loved how Jonathan was more about having fun in this video, rather than trying to figure everything out. He basically just said “this is DOOM. It’s not supposed to make sense” and I loved it. And I loved that he still tried to figure out how some of the weapons worked while still having fun with it

@1vite

i didn't know chris made music for EXP, that is incredible. makes me appreciate this channel even more

@VinzentC

19:21 "I actually have two skulls" so I see Jonathan got his hands on the two people at Gamespot who decided to bin you guys off then

@enby_kensei

Long story short, The Dark Ages takes place on a different planet. The humans who evolved there essentially speedran from medieval technology to energy weapons because of intervention from other alien races, so that explains the clash of aesthetics. That's also why the shotguns are described in the codex as "primitive," because they were based on designs that the Doomguy brought there with him (the pump action and double barrel). Everything else he uses in this game is either adopted alien tech, or homegrown weapon designs from the natives of the Night Sentinel Empire.

@ErickGameplaysN64

17:00 Fun fact: There is, in DOOM Eternal you could see a magazine on the ground that says "Why the DOOM Slayer owes the demon society an apology"

@mavvh1054

I don't know, launching cursed bananas to kill enemies would be pretty... bananas.

@superkeaton9912

Props to Chris for the music!

@lukusridley

When jonathan said "enya went metal" I was immediately reminded that devin townsend - the lad behind such peaceful music as "shitstorm" and "LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH" when he was doing strapping young lad - is a huge enya fan, draws great inspiration from her and has several bits of music that could indeed be described as enya going metal. Good stuff

@panderz_gg

Knowing that the yellow glowing eyes mean God mode clearly shows he knows what he's talking about. He played the originals.
