Carver describes a Machian universe/physics . . . moving on from the spinning Newton's bucket demonstration to a number of newer, more modern experiments giving evidence for the influences of the 'rest of the universe' when dealing with physical processes. I am reading more and more from those on the same wavelength; even Einstein professed to be a Machian in the early stages - his initial idea before GR was that light slows down under the influence of gravity. Such a lot of practical sense in this lecture. . . but what do you expect from an engineer.

I don’t believe a word of this.
