(x+1)! = (x+1)x! as per factorial identity the x! cancels out x+1=13 x = 12

None of this crap is necessary in his long winded proof. Clearly, X + 1 = 13, as the denominator is only one less than the numerator, therefore X =12. If you really want to write it out, the numerator and denominator are each divided by X!, which gives (X +1)/1 = 13.
