@mfaracing

That book is a good starter but if you are seriously interested in the topic, the following books from the same publisher will give you a solid background:

Probability for Finance
Stochastic Calculus for Finance
The Black Scholes Model
Portfolio Theory and Risk management
Stochastic Interest Rates (if you are into the topic)

Having said that, what I experienced in my studies is that unless you have a solid background in partial differential equations, you will be left in a limbo. Only after you will do a proper course in PDE you will be able to go into the details of mathematical finance.

@AyushSharma80001

That's what I am looking for from past few days!

@mfaracing

The solutions to the exercises of the Cambridge University Press are normally available from their website. Usually the link is written at the end of the preface of the book. I know because I collect all their mathematical finance books.

@QuantOneDay

I found Carol Alexander's 4 volumes on mathematical finance and risk much more elementary to read and understand....maybe that's just me !!!

I need to finish my homework! But now I want to check this one out. 😭 You're tearing me apart, Math Sorcerer

Thanks for the video.

Wilmott is another possibility, but at a lower level than Shreve. For quant finance, one should ideally have at least two semesters of PDEs and one semester of measure theoretic probability. Otherwise you are wasting your time.

@dzikijohnny

Ed Thorp the Blackjack guy, who was also a big financial guy. Actually created most of the Black Scoles theory that he didn’t publish it. He made too much from it.

@EWWWYOURFAC3

What to learn applicable math for finance ! Hope this a good one

@ourobouros6079

can you review "a Primer for the Mathematics of Financial Engeneering" by Dan Stefanica if you feel like getting your hands on it? There is also a linear algebra version.

@scotthicks1795

Is there a simple resource for learning about using options or other financial derivatives for convex payoffs? I understand that optimizing convexity might be somewhat advanced.

@abdallahlakkis449

What are some of your tricks or techniques from mathematics that would help one deal with the first principles of quant finance. In other words, how would you simplify the complexity behind the mathematics in quant finance in specific, and which math foundations would u consider as first principles of quant finance. The basics that if were mastered one could unlock quant finance

Ross is not a great expositor. Try Shreve’s two volumes or Capinski & Zastawniak.
