Despite all my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage.

@melvinwatson8409

Music industry is a dope game with lawyers and attorneys

@Tsudkyk

Let’s take back the music industry. Support local artists, buy there merch and see them live.

@TennesseeZee

That’s what’s so powerful about social media and paying attention to your negotiating skills. If you have talent and people like you they can be sidestepped them, because they’ve always been the middleman and now that’s evaporating. It’s nice to see humanity start to take their power back. Once you sign they got that ass on whatever you signed. NEVER GIVE YOUR POWER AWAY.

@iamleecampbell

The music industry is the pimp game. Perfect business to study

@theelusive9625

This is from Joe Rogan's interview with Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins. If you are a musician: aspiring, veteran, in-between, you HAVE TO watch that interview, it is amazing are scary all at once.

@dreamsofkaia7275

Most of our favorite artists are basically slaves to their label

@MrSilus2000

He should tell ppl how they control some of your lyrics and the artists are used as tools to push out programming.

@RRRSoulEvan

That’s why I stay independent. You make your own money, you do your own marketing, everything. As long as you put your hard work into it and smart with it. That’s why I’m mainly just listening to independent artist now. Fuck the mainstream cause they just make similar sounds and that’s more important too. You get to create your own sounds if you can make beats if not then find a friend to help you or just start learning to make beats your own. Period!

@BluWaves

That’s why you create your own buzz & let the record label come to you. Independence is key but note with social media you don’t need a record label to distribute your music. I do mine from my iPhone.

@axe2grind244

Now imagine NOT being Billy Corgan and NOT being one of the best bands of all time. Makes you think twice about getting into this business.

@scottjohnson8576

New Orleans, the Melancholy tour, you told us all how tired you were and voiced your feelings about this. Broke my heart because in that moment I knew what you were going through. Well Billy, we didn’t forget you or your music! Love you bro!

@thefucrew9865

Billy is such a genuine guy.
I used to be security at The Metro, and even his personal security on Wednesdays where he would go look at up and coming bands.

@amor797

Prince, michael, witney etc
 dmx song industry describe it so well

@josephschmizzo1595

Learn as much as humanly possible (producing, instruments, mixing, sound design, marketing, business etc.) and start releasing music in your 30s instead of your early 20s…

Nobody will know the difference and you’ll have the life experience to handle the grind of independent content creation.

Skipping those steps is what gave the industry the power to do this to ppl over and over again. We were gaslit to be obsessed w “youth” rather than “art”….

@Jaysmooth4

The music industry basically pimps you out in a way

@HakeemTheDream616

When I seen the thumbnail to this clip I automatically thought it was going to be about a rapper, because they're always exposing the music industry the most. Now I see artists from all genre's are being screwed over with their contracts

@darrylwayne1292

If u want to know how to do it right in the music Industry, look into Russ’s story. It’s surprisingly inspiring to see how he held out for years until he built his own success without a label or contract

@MycketTuff

The fact that a huge chunk of people can't see evil for what it is is a detriment to the rest of us
