Its weird how they decided that moving the setting from japan to america should mean less blonde people
Kira's look misses out on kirari's aesthetic counterplay with yumeko, with her freezing blue eyes and lips and frost white hair contrasting hard with Yumeko's red and black look, not to mention how calm and collected she is in comparison to her. She's a planner, while yumeko goes into games like a wrecking ball
Honestly, turning Kirari from a mastermind on the same level of unhinged "fuck around and find out" energy as Yumeko to someone who does what she does because she just wants her daddy to notice her is a way more massive downgrade than Chadyuda.
I can’t believe they removed the Yuri and Gambling from the psychotic Yuri gambling anime
I'm honestly afraid of the clips you're about to show us.
You can really tell what kind of people made this because they felt the need to make Yumeko "sympathetic" by spilling her origin story immediately and making her fuck up and get sad and upset a bunch, compared to in the manga and anime, where Yumeko is sympathetic because she's the underdog ruining the day of a bunch of spoiled rich brats who view themselves as untouchable, burning a path through their class hierarchy until she's toppling billionaire dynasties. But the people who wrote and produced this do not see an underdog eating the rich as sympathetic, they view them as terribly frightening and uncouth, so Yumeko gets a brain transplant.
Obviously the pop song needle drop they should've made is "Bet On It" from High School Musical 2
Jokes aside, it's impressive how much difference the red ribbon makes to the visual of the character
My problem with Bet is they bastardized the character designs like a cruel parody. In Kakegurui the character designs are distinct and reflect each character and their personalities to an extent. In Bet it's "Hey, this is blue lipstick girl, you know that because she has blue lipstick! You know that character you like, this is how you know it's that character!" It just feels lazy. Instead of distinct and recognizable, the characters in Bet just look over the top and goofy. Like, are we supposed to believe these could be realistic people in A time period a la Riverdale, The Office, or are these supposed to be fantastical movie characters you'd only see in a young woman's dystopia novel. THEY LOOK LIKE HUNGER GAMES CHARACTERS. Just imagine how these wackos look like to people that have never seen or DON'T KNOW about Kakegurui. Imagine if you thought this was a Netflix original series not based on anything. You'd think whoever designed the characters is fucking insane or time traveled from 2012 Deviant Tumblr fanfics
Legitimately, the moment that "Yumeko fantasizing about killing a guy" cliffhanger was revealed as a fantasy would've been the point I dropped the show like a brick and never looked back. It's basically looking your audience in the eyes and telling them you don't respect them. I have no patience for that shit.
The school having the acronym “STD” is the funniest thing Netflix has released ever
I literally don't understand who this was made for. People who hate anime hate this and people who love anime hate this. What was the point
"I'm going to tell you how this show ends and you're not gonna believe me" Okay Geoff, what could possibly be more insane than the bitcoin th-WHAT DO YOU MEAN I JUST GOT FUCKING RICKROLLED IN JAPANESE
Your description of Kakegurui as a hornier yuri Yugioh is the biggest of TRUEs
"They turned her into Walmart Roxie Richter" Okay, Geoff, that's a bit of an exaggeratio- [SCOTT PILGRIM GAME GUI APPEARS] Damn, spoke too soon.
33:59 the rickroll messed me up for sure, but I was sent into the next dimension when I realized ITS THE VERSION BY CAITLIN MYERS THAT FEATURES LILYPICHU. We got rickrolled BY VTUBERS!!
People will wonder how Netflix was able to make the same mistake twice after live action Bebop, but you have to remember something: the ones giving the greenlight for these shows to be made are themselves unbalanced addicts to the point that they make the Kakegurui cast seem normal.
14:40 Uh. Kir, is anything BUT Russian word for a ruler. We have the word "tsar", "knyaz" or "pravitel" or even "monarch", so either the show lied to you or it's a word from some other Slavic language, which I wouldn't be surprised because mainstream media would rather shit their pants while naming one of their main antagonists than research any slavic countries that aren't Russia.
This anime is quite literally the craziest face anime ever and they wanted to make a live action of this twice? They'd have an easier time with Jojo or Baki than the faces this anime makes
