I think they should be two separate entities as opt 1 is his insides representing childhood innocence and opt 2 should represent a feverish nightmare of childhood fears or trauma.

I prefer design 2 because It fits more with the sun entity, but i honestly think you should keep both, like with the previously mentioned sun

1 is super eerie and looks like the void opened up on itself but number 2 looks like the moon opened up and now you have to see what’s inside. I absolutely love both but I think number 2 would be a great chase scene where tentacles chase you
