Applying the strategy as coded in the video, I get only 166 trades, a much lower net profit, of course, and a higher drawdown. Is there any scaling mechanism in ?

The problem is that commision fees for trading that contract are close to $10 per side, so almost $20 per trade. You just aasumed $5 per trade.
