@chocotastic1

Ma$e just had that sound, he embodied Harlem and repped Harlem when there were no other MC's doing it. Every Ma$e song was a banger.

@fredricksmith8760

I'm 43 from North Philly, which means this was literally MY era, I was 15 in 1996. Philadelphia is a cornerstone market for New York. The mixtape game was CRAZY. I can tell you from experience, your doing an accurate job of recapping this time period.

@KodakBlack23-lq2wm

I respect your drive to do what other YouTubers won’t do and just attempt to take your videos farther. Solid video right here.

@19mil

Mase does get a lot hate, but he can actually rap & he was marketable, you put anyone else in that situation after BIG died, they’d probably fold

@camronshean1758

17:39 Jay-Z had already mentioned in his song Imaginary Player that Ma$e was getting screwed over his publishing "You got flash now but time will reveal money" and when he says "You got show dough, little to no dough, sell a bunch of records and you still owe dough"

@TheRealMichaelP

Thank you! People forget Mase was on fire and Hov was nobodies favorite yet

@kazual1too

That #2 line from Hov was crazy šŸ˜… #tripleentendre

@drewnice2345

I love you did this. I remember Joe Budden mentioned it on Everyday Struggle in like 2017 and ā€œSaid everyone knows about thisā€ and as a 27 I knew absolutely nothing about.

@MarkHallOfFame

Unpopular Opinion: Jay-Z ā€œSunshineā€ was NOT a bad song at all. It just was a terrible cheesy video. Lol

@tonygrady5833

I'm 40 years old ..and I remember this beef when I was a teen ...and everything you just said was pretty much accurate good job famšŸ‘šŸ’ÆšŸ’Æ

@bresams2917

Yo this was DOPE ā¤ That era in music was diamond. It will never be another Mase or '90s. Thanks for doing this video.

@willsalter8113

This was an excellent video and he really summarized it perfectly. As an 40 year old Hip Hop head who lived through that era this brought back many fond memories. I Will add this though, Jay always had his eye on the throne. When he released the single The City Is Mine in Feb 98 and he said ā€œyou held down long let me take those reins/and just like your spirit the commission remainsā€ ā€œI’m the vocal point like Biggie in his prime/but on the low though, the city is mineā€. Hov caught major backlash because cats felt that Biggie (R.I.P) hadn’t been deceased long enough for someone to be talking like that. That’s why on Ether Nas said ā€œfirst Biggie’s man but then you nerve to say that you’re better Big/dick sucking lips why don’t you let the late great veteran liveā€. Cats always felt someway about Jay making it no secret that he wanted the King Of Ny title so shortly after Big passed.

@itsonnowTV

Jay is a perfect example of keep grindin ur your time is coming…Didnt even realize the mase platinum talk was a jab

@shawnanderson466

That's the smoothest segue into an advertisement ever...Really was part of the video...

@6tiple6ix6afia

I was born in 91 so i literally remember riding in the back seat of my moms car and these singles playing on the radio for the first time . What a time to grow up.

@DJHellaYella

Thank you for this! 2 of my favorite rappers but I could never get the story of the beef in long form. I never knew the singles and albums dropped so close together.

@bountys_Cave

I appreciate you reaching out to Bob and calling dames number. Nobody has done this on video! You are ahead of everyone else when it comes to deep researchšŸ™šŸ¾

@spenceishard

That wasn't actually the end as Mase went back at Jay on Do What Playas Do and it's one to note. Great video!!

@nabateisles7550

You DIDN'T mention Mase's sinister verse on 'Do What Playas Do (Violator: The Album), it was ABOUT Jigga!
