@amakel4365

literally OBSESSED with this game, so excited for this episode!

@DoubleDealingDisarray

Holy smokes! That's how Dionysus came about? My memory wants to say that when I was a teenager I had heard of his mother taking a potion to help her conceive (which I now find odd since it had to do with Zeus), but never of Zagreus. I love when modern stories, movies, games, etc. add little twists to the mythologies that 'could' be possible. I do it all the time with my own stories. It's almost like a game in itself, in my opinion. "What could I put that'll make people think on things?" This was awesome! Thank you for this new bit of info. Much appreciated.

@ladynikkie

After watching this video I feel like playing the game again thank you Jon

@bbthebeee

Greek mythology is the best! Thank you for this huge series! Keep it up! 💛

@alexandriacollins7119

Actually, there was an explanation for Zagreus's death in the game; The Fates had decreed that Hades would never have an Heir, and Hades was aware of The Fates' Decree even had he and Persephone tried for a child of their-own, as Persephone struggled through a difficult pregnancy and when Zagreus was stillborn...

@tristezaeternal

I've been obsessed with Hades since January, even though I suck at games where you need real skills and it's my first roguelike ever. It's just the story is so so good and I fell in love with characters so I didn't mind starting all over again again and defeating daddy for the fist time on my, erm, 70+ something run? Lol. Never heard of Zag before, I googled it at some point and glad I did this on time to get this prank from Dionysos. My most favourite Olympian god in the game, btw, I defeated Hades for the first time thanks to him and Demeter.

@hyugalubbok7770

Zagreus, and his relation to Bacchus/Dionysus, are the one the most fascinating gods for me!!
i also like an similiar deity of rebirth and to nature: Jarilo ( also called gerog when synchronized with St. George) and slavic Kreshnik, who might had relation to hari-krishna (who himself related to hercules)

@AquilaCat

Okay so... the first thing I thought of with the titans eating was
"Zagreus roasting on an open fire~"

@KRAZYKentReader

I’m shocked with as many books based on Greek myths (Song of Achilles, Percy Jackson, Circe) and yet not one about Zagreus. Makes you wonder if it can be done.

@wagerobot5231

worst things Zeus and Hera have ever done! That's a high bar.

@NameNotNumbers

Haven't played it, but probably will soon. Very soon.

@hhhggg1071

Bro the heart part was just ripped of dionysus birth

@pleutrival4078

Mineral, the opposite of earthy is mineral, winewise !

@RenatoKlisman

I just heard Zagreus talking to Orpheus that he is Dionisus. I was shocked lol

@asleepyb0i400

I didn’t think Zagreus was an actual part of Greek mythology. I thought he was the studio’s OC for the game lol

@Windwarriorplays

your very ambitious with you like goals in all your videos

@klo1679

I prefer the alternative story of Persephone’s abduction, where instead of being stolen from earth, she accidentally falls through to hades via a fae portal of black flowers that she thought were pretty. She wanders asphodel, until she is found by Hades, who offers her a place to stay until Demeter finds out, queue Demeter crashing down to find her daughter with hades, eating a pomegranate, she tries to take Persephone back to the mortal realm, but is stopped by Hades, whom reminds Demeter of the rules of the underworld, being that you are permanently linked to the underworld if you eat from its fruit, Persephone had at this point eaten, depending on the rendition, 1/4 of a pomegranate, or 1 of the 3 that were on the table.

As it turns out, Persephone actually loves the underworld, and has fallen in love with hades, meaning she actually wants to stay, positing that she can stay in the underworld for a portion of the year, and flit between realms at will. Explaining why winter is the time crops won’t grow, and why spring is directly after winter. But also why we get random warm or cold days through the year.

Anyway Hades was actually reluctant to get on Demeter’s bad side, and bent the rules, Persephone should not had left the underworld at all, however her ability and unique allowance to leave the underworld, is the subtle deal between Hades and Demeter.

Older myths called Persephone Kore, meaning maiden, however Persephone means bringer of death as a rough translation. She is also described as one of the few death goddesses, separate from the chthonic deities, and is more ruthless and unforgiving than her husband. He does the bookwork, and she is the scary one.
