All of them are pretty great: M2 and M3 Air: Killer Entry-level machines for the majority of users M4 MBP: Solid value workhorse for most power users and light professionals M4 Pro MBP: Fast, reliable powerhouse for most Pro users M4 Max MBP: La créme de la créme for ultra high res photo, video, 3D work and gamers who need an amazing portable GPU For myself, I chose the full, unbinned M4 Pro with 1TB/24 RAM on the 14 inch. I don’t need the 48GB and feel that is the best all rounder configuration for my needs. Overall, as a person who’s generally preferred custom built PC’s, the current Mac lineup is arguably the strongest it’s ever been. The 600 dollar/700€ Mini M4 utterly humiliates basically every custom PC under a thousand.
I'm still using my M1 MacBook Air, and it still performs beautifully. I feel no need whatsoever to upgrade.
I just got a 15 inch 16gb MBA on sale for $1099. Comes with 512gb ssd. I am able to easily run my entire business off of it and it’s amazing for media as well. I got the late 2024 version after they upped the M3 to 16gb. More than happy and will keep this thing for years. No need for me to get any more because at that point I would just be spec chasing.
I am a business user and bought a M4 MacBook Pro 24 GB RAM with 1TB SSD. Because for me life of a laptop is very important. My previous laptop was Dell and I used it for more than 8 years. MacBook is the best as it is a much stable OS. No anti-virus needed. No subscription for 365, no malware removal tool, great battery life. ...etc.These are some of the things just not possible with any Windows laptop even if it is from MS. Apple is unbeatable as of now.
My Macbook Air M1 16gb is still running really good for Logic Pro (my first use) !!! Stable and noiseless. I can watch Netflix and other things in my bed confortably ! I will wait for the M5 series before switching for shure !
Keeping my maxed 16" M3 Max for another 10 years.
I just bought the 15 inch MacBook Air and love it! I work from home in digital marketing and it does everything I need and more. Plus, I hated the M1 MacBook Air because of the screen. This one is so much better and I love the size! It reminds me of my old 2105 MacBook Pro more than any Air has before. I'm actually considering buying the 13 inch of this one too for a replacement for an old iPad since I no longer use it and don't really want another iPad. If you're not doing heavy gaming, programming, or videography, just get the Air. Forget waiting on the M4. There's always going to be a new machine coming out. The M3 air is a great buy! I had to wait a whole year and save up and don't regret it one bit!
In my opinion there are 3 models to take into consideration: the MacBook Air M2 for those who want to save money, the future MacBook Air M4 for those who want maximum power and portability. Finally the Pro MacBook Pro or Max for professionals. The model that makes the least sense of all in my opinion is the basic MacBook Pro M4 because ultimately apart from the mini LED display and the SDXC slot it has nothing truly "Pro"
I've had a 16" M1 Pro MBP for a few years and I'm still amazed at the quality of the screen when watching videos.
Can I suggest that if you want to hit a niche audience as myself (software engineer). Maybe run some benchmarks that could show us performance differences of these Macs. - Compiling a project - Building a docker image - Running some SQL queries - etc...
I just got a new (sealed Refurb from Apple), 16" M2 Max, 38-core, 64GB RAM, 1TB, with Apple Care+ for nearly 3 years, and Final Cut and Logic licenses, for $2100 off eBay. I am so lucky (and happy)! Now I want Apple to update their Studio Display and XDR with tandem OLED, and pro motion. Happy Apple shopping guys!
Bought the M2 Air last week and I’m extremely happy with it
I ended up purchasing a refurbished M3 Pro base model over the M4, no regrets! Part of me wishes I had a little more than 18GB of RAM, although that's only really useful when a single web page uses up lots of RAM for some reason. Excellent laptop and LOVE the mini-LED display!
My 15” m3 MacBook Air, 16/512, has been a video editing beast. I literally made a decent-length 4k video all on battery, and it didn’t break a sweat.
I got my M4 MacBookPro and I watched Max Tech for which M4 model to pick and I love my M4 MacBookPro
personally i have 14 inch base model M4 macbook pro, it is the best value in my opinion, the display and battery are killer as well as the ports and speakers as well as faster charging, i personally dont mind it being slightly less portable and the features of the base model M4 are much improved over the air, by the time u spec a 15 inch air to same specs as macbook pro base model m4 its only 100 dollars more expensive, if u want a macbook air m3, i would get it on sale for several hundred dollars off,
I’m getting the MacBook Pro M4 16GB/512GB SSD. I’m posting the unboxing later !
I picked up the 14" MBP M4 Pro 14/20 w/24GB and 1TB for $1,999 at Best Buy before Christmas. Seemed like a crazy good deal. Upgraded from a 2013 15" MBP so it's quite the upgrade and long overdue.
None for me as the M4 Mac mini with 16GB for $599 is doing wonders!
