I’ve been packing up a set of dishes to give to my daughter.  I’m 70 and am ready to lighten up my load. As I was looking around my house yesterday I noticed that the pieces that are bigger than a bread box not only make a statement in my house but are also my favorites things. I shopped estate sales until 10 yrs ago. I have a 30 inch clear glass vase that is swirled and full of amaryllis on my dining table. The copper plant pot swirled 25 inches is amazing. There’s more. But as I look back I would have skipped a lot of littles.  Just enough to fill my secretary and hutch is all I needed. The nicest pieces. To newer collectors go for the bigger items like the copper basket.  They make a statement and you need less of them. Buy the absolutely best small things. Not junk. You’ll be happier in the end. I do have a closet with decorative pieces for seasons and change things out. But the larger pieces stay put. Now, to start giving away my littles.

Julie I swear I have alot of your swirl dishes you love..I collect ed them when I was a young wife .at the grocery store you saved points to purchase. That was 40 years ago.

I have whiskey brooms everywhere. I don’t know why they call those blue and white plates onion pattern but I love them. I told my husband it did not seem like a Saturday today because we did not go to an estate sale. I saw a preview and it was too neat. I like the old houses that are loaded and you have to dig and they bundle and you get a whole bag for ten dollars. I do like everything you got. ❤❤❤❤
