DevOps and MLOps is more on the IT Operations spectrum unrelated to Software Engineering that builds automated CI/CD pipelines to automate the process of ML models or software and deploy into production on to a server infrastructure rather it be to Kubernetes cluster or VMs and management of the infrastructure which is essentially Sysadmin tasks. A lot of people in IT esp if they are Sysadmins often transitions into a DevOps Engineer role since they already have more than half the foundational skills sets covered esp since they already work with DevOps tools like Ansible for managing severs and cloud infrastructure. You don't need necessarily a degree in computer science or software engineering to be a DevOps Engineer as you aren't developing software. The only coding you do is really just scripting and automation which is a core skill of a Sysadmin.
