@tatianastarcic

High prices for everything have severely affected my plan. I'm concerned if people who went through the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am having now. The stock market is worrying me as my income has decreased, and I fear I won't have enough savings for retirement since I can't contribute as much as before.

@ReactFinances

honestly planted strawberries and blueberries last year, got a grape vine, apple trees, tomatos, cucumbers, peppers, looking at getting a couple other plants as well.

@Danette2007

We were raised to be consumers. Many have shopping addictions……they will learn the hard way.

@appleiphone69

GenXer here. I lived like a monk to afford my first place. I worked two slightly above minimum wage jobs and went back to college for a second bachelors. It’s an exercise in how long and how hard. I was frugal AF. Delayed gratification needs to be your jam.

@AK47BLACKice

I’m 43, I can understand where these younger people are coming from. I talked to a few of them, their situation is not good. Everything is just too expensive now.

@barbsinclair7352

I'm retired and set but I'm set because I have always been frugal, there are absolutely things I leave on the shelf if the price is just obnoxiously high, there is not one thing I need that bad that I will fall prey to the retail world, I will find a different way, but most of our younger generations have not been taught this, bargain shopping, shopping around or doing without for a longer period of time, please teach yourself these skills, they will be with you for life.

@kellyp6675

I grew up poor. I've done okay, but sometimes I've been dirt poor, sometimes comfortable. I know how to live with less. You have to be comfortable with making things last, not eating out, driving an older car, etc.

@justineb.2283

My dad always said, "The higher you try to climb on the status ladder, the harder the fall."

@robertgottlieb3731

I lived in NYC in the 90’s. It was expensive then. Adjusted for inflation it’s the same now. If you’re asking when it ends. It doesn’t. It never ends.

@tiffanyyu4531

Our groceries are <$200 a week for a family of 4. We meal plan and stick with the plan.

@waggypup99

It’s crazy. A lot of my coworkers are using their 401ks to pay their car loans. I told them, don’t use your investment to pay for a depreciating asset, like the Porsche. Sell it and invest the proceeds. Crazy times!

@davinci05131979

They're ripping that lady off. The ducts can be cleaned, they don't need to be replaced.

@brettwalsh2847

These videos are important to keep up communication and share that this isn’t normal and it’s not “just us”. Everybody seems to be saying the same thing… hmm isn’t that interesting. Social media paints a false narrative and this is the message that needs to be shared.

@jefferybrown8062

HVAC guy here. New systems with new ductwork from a reputable company absolutely cost that much if not more unless you know someone in the trade who can give you a good deal. The ductwork may have been outdated and brittle so cleaning isn’t always an option. If you have hard pipe ducts then a good cleaning is sufficient. Change your filters people! And rinse off your outdoor units to get debris off the surface of the coil. Flush your water heaters every year. It’ll save you in the long run.

Also, whenever buying a home, hire your own inspector.

@BlankName88

We're in a depression. How isn't this obvious?

@CatDaddyLurk

In my life , I see a lot of people unwilling to cut back. This is not the time to try and uphold some sort of false image on social media. Nor is it the time to keep up with the Jones. Cut back some nonessential expenses, increase your income, and something that is lacking these days....form relationships with your neighbors if possible.

@tristamiller3461

We have given up on central a/c. It’s not cute but a window unit can be replaced easily and without spending thousands.

@loradelrey9134

There’s a lot of new poor people here. And it shows. Not budgeting, not making meal plans, not cutting costs and discretionary spending. Lots of people learning how to be poor.

@k20z3keith7

People complain about cost of living yet in the same breath they blow their finances out of the water 😂

@stephaniehuthmacher4214

We are definitely in a recession... And headed to a depression by autumn (if not sooner) if things continue as they are. I am not one to lose hope... But as a senior on Social Security I am very afraid... Live BELOW your means and stock up on whatever you can.
