Promise took me deep inside with the beat and then lifted me very high with the crescendo of the strings until I was suspended in the universe with the final silence, One Day made me look at where I am now and where I would like to be, and Begginers has reviewed my life like a movie, seeing what I have learned and what I would still like to learn. I have listened to this song over and over again since it came out. I am sitting in my mother’s room at hospice where she’s dying. I have looked after her for the last two years and now in a few hours she’ll be off on a new adventure…without me. This song is so universal it applies to so many circumstances and situations. It, like every other song you two have created is so beautiful my soul swells when I hear your music. ‘Beginners’ tho will always have special meaning. It’s a song for me and my mom - sweet, gentle, profound and uplifting. If I say ‘thank you’ for creating it, is it enough? 🙏
