Great effort my man. Here are a few tips that may help you in the future:
(1) Great crust on a steak is a matter of moisture management. All of the water on the outside of the steak needs to evaporate off before any browning reactions can happen. Ideally, you would apply salt and then leave your steaks on a wire rack overnight or even just a few hours to fully dry out the surface before cooking.
(2) Thicker steaks. >= 1" will be easier to get good colour on without overcooking
(3) Fry in oil, butter at the end. If you fry your steak in butter, it will burn. If the butter is not burning, your pan is not hot enough. If your pan is not hot enough, you increase your cooking time, resulting in overcooked meat. Fry the steak in a neutral cooking oil with high smoke point (canola/veg./grapeseed). Use about twice the amount shown at 4:00. In the last minute or two, add your butter and thyme and begin basting.

I cooked a steak after watching this video and it worked! I messed up the first steak because I had the pan too hot (like 7 or 8 out of 10) but the second steak came out great!

@garycolonna470

Great cook

@tonegrail650

I remove it from the heat at 105 to 110. Carryover takes it to 120 or 125.

I'm not surprised you went with the thermometer method, but learning how to read the juice colors is definitely next level.
