I got the nano texture display and I highly regret it, most likely will be returning it. Honestly, whatever you hear on youtube, bear in mind that it is simply another matte display, nothing more nothing less. Colors are way less vibrant compared to my other Macbook Pro M2 glossy display and the whites are simply bad.
Being a life long windows user, bought find my very first Apple product MacBook Pro M4 (16gb 256gb). One of the best tech-decisions I made.
I don’t get upgrading the RAM to 32GB and the SSD to 2TB, both nice but expensive upgrades, yet keeping the vanilla M4 CPU. For about the same price I got the M4 Pro which already bumps the memory up to 24GB (and faster bandwidth). Also upgraded to a 1TB SSD and got Apple’s faster SSD drive. And I’ve got a processor with additional performance cores and 20 GPU cores vs 10, great if you play fairly demanding games. No it’s not going to replace a dedicated Windows gaming machine with a GeForce RTX 4090, but for games like Civ 6, Resident Evil 4, and Baldur’s Gate 3, the M4 Pro will rock out at high settings in 4K. Something the GPU-bound vanilla M4 just won’t do. I guess it comes down to what you want out of your Mac. I don’t think I could fork out for big memory and storage upgrades without getting a better processor too, but that’s just me. Especially since you can get a super fast external SSD (1, 2, 4, 8 TB) to use with the USB-C/Thunderbolt port and save a ton of money. 🤷🏻♂️
I got mine couple days ago with student discount. No add ons just the base model and I'm so happy with it.
I pulled the trigger and got a base model M4 with upgraded RAM to 24GB, 512SSD (I'm not a content creator so don't really need huge storage) with nano-texture display. Can never go back. It's simply awesome!
14 days later: I was wrong/don’t make this mistake!
Just upgraded from my 2013 MBP 15. Had it not been for the software incompatibility with the new Final Cut and adobe suite apps I would have just kept rocking it, 2013 is still a beast just unfortunate.
your videos always look soooo aesthetically pleasing, Mark!
Picked up mine yesterday from apple and so far I loved it. I got the base model with military discount from the website. I think it is a solid laptop use for daily basis.
The base M4 pro is the valuable one. Standard 16GB & 512SSD storage with the newest Apple silicon chip for under $1400 (black friday deal) is crazy. Considering my 2015 15” MBP was still $1800 in 2018.
Base model should have 32 gigs of ram and a 1 terabyte hard drive. It’s insulting to force these upsells in 2025.
Wow, I believe this is probably one of the best MacBook Pros to date. It certainly isn’t perfect. It still has a notch on the screen. That thing has to go. Apple should be ashamed of putting this on a screen. Would you put this on your TV or any other computer that you watch or any other screen that you watch no, but Apple still puts it on their screen this is a slap in the face of it users
I got this about a week ago and I really love it Much faster compared to any windows computer I’ve used
Love the look and feel of the M4 MBP. Thinking of swapping up my MBA M1 to this one to use for a long time. I travel a lot for work and using my MacBook vs Windows laptop is the obvious choice for admin work. Wish I could run Autodesk on the Mac but..I also like to take photos sooo. MBP it is. Great review!
Great review, nice lighting and superb video production.! Thanks Mark 🤘
Hi Mark! thanks for the detailed review :) i didnt know there is a new color as space black. i thought it was same as space gray but didnt notice the difference. now i looked at some side-by-side comparisons and realized the tone difference. i think apple using black on a macbook pro for the first time since 2008
I hope to get this by this year!
Had one of these for about a month now. I’m loving it. Great videos bro. Ignore the idiots in the comments. They’re just trolls that are bitter because they can’t afford a computer this awesome
Since you were one of the few channels to acutally list the new QD thing and not only babble about the info apple gave out to the techfluencers, here's an additional info: The nanotexture isn't applied as an additional layer like on most cheap matte display options on the market, but rather integrated into the polarizer layer. On the one hand it's just a more expensive way, to get a matte display, on the other hand it is the best option without impacting dynamic range and general max brightness and image quality. Tbh after 6 weeks of comparing notebooks, if you don't game in an enthusiast's way, there are not many Windows notebooks able to deliver the same overall power / efficiency / hardware package and if they do, they cost just as much or more. M4 really did deliver and most of the products (Mini, Air and MBP) basemodels all deliver stellar value in my opinion.
