@PrashantKumar-pl8tv

Please please please David, go to Wall Street and record this again today for us. You're the OG YouTuber.

@MURPHSLIFE

No middle fingers. No rude comments. No sarcasm. Just humans interacting with other humans. In New York too. Pretty cool to witness this

@ElectrikMe

I like how no one tries to be a smart ass and is pretty straight forward with their answers.

@mentak2593

The woman who said we’re going to OD on information and that it’s inevitable because of innovations in technology- wow, she was spot on.

@brasshouse-fireball

Man, this is what YouTube was made for. David is becoming a national treasure.

@manuel9742

For me, born in 1979, one thing missing today is noticeable: People at that time were listening attentively to the question, thought about it and answered patiently.

@oceansunset6147

Things I noticed:
- trash everywhere on the ground
- people are very curious, aware and alert wondering what the camera is all about
- people verbally repeat what the interviewer asks making sure they understood the question right to be able to answer the question correctly
- big ties with no top button done up
- people don’t seem to like their jobs much
- everybody was slim
- there seems to be a little caution in being confronted by camera man
- polite
- people seemed more laid back and chilled even in the middle of New York

@HyperDroids

Notice how everyone is so calm, thoughtful and considerate, as though there's no rush? Notice how they take their time before answering, aren't afraid to ask the interviewer if they understood correctly, don't fidget, and have a thoughtful and focused gaze? There's no doubt life was less stressful and people back then had longer attention spans.

@firkalali5302

I was born 10 years later. The one thing I noticed, people back then were curious and generally respectful.

@OldWorldEverywhere

Thank you for sharing sir. I am 24 and fading fast with S4 small cell lung cancer. I’ve been feeling nostalgic like crazy. I try to live in the now but with the world crashing around me I miss the past.. the “good ol days”. I miss my parents (lost them in 2022), I miss the beautiful simplicity of being a kid, I miss my best friend (I lost him in 2016). I just wish we could all live. Truly live. Not struggling to survive while putting on a smile as we cry on the inside.

@georgesealy4706

Hi David, I worked in the Wall Street area in 1979. I walked around the area every day at lunch. I watched this video intently because I could have been one of those people in the background (I wasn't). However, I most probably saw your team shooting the interviews. The thing is, there was always something happening in New York, LOL. TV camera crews and even movie crews shooting scenes and interviews were commonly seen. Thanks for posting this video. It's hard to believe 1979 was 46 years ago. I remember working in NYC vividly. It was great when I was a young guy starting out.

@CodeGr88n

thanks for recording this in1979 and having the foresight to save it, and upload it again.
you were the OG vlogger lol

@acediamond7524

Blast of the past is always so enchanting when it’s real footage…

No matter how glamorous we can recreate something seeing the original is always a different experience entirely…

@paulmaag6958

I was 26 years old in 1979. The people really were like that. Beautiful, inquisitive, smart and deliberate with common sense. We were proud to be American's. It's striking how much the American people have deteriorated. It brings me to tears watching this film.

@kayumochi

The crowd gathered behind the interviewees is what attracts me. Don't think you would see that today.

@alecunkel2471

people seem so much more authentic and lowkey

@Sjalabais

So many people taking a break from their day to stop and watch these simple interviews. Brilliant.

@howarddalton8436

They also seem radically sincere in a way that’s just who they are - no pretense. Fascinating.

@mybingobrain

Wow. People were different back then. You can see curiosity and innocence lost. Fascinating.

@CyborgCoder

So many people in the comments are saying that people seem so much more calm and considerate than people today, but I think a big part of that was that this technology was much newer and only in the hands of professionals that they were basically on their best behaviour because they associated video recording with being on TV or a movie. Contrast that with today when basically anyone on the street has a video camera in their pocket you don't really think to take someone recording too seriously. I actually thought that most people in this video seem to be a little nervous and unnatural.
