How about Meta retraining people for these tasks instead of laying them off and stealing from the available pool outside the firm instead of asking people and governments to retrain them. Meta announced a major layoff about a month ago just because it seemed like the efficient thing to do to keep it's workforce on it's toes.

It's said that the workers who made Taj Mahal were rewarded by chopping off their hands so that they couldn't make another Taj. The engineers + Scientists too, who worked in AI, have their jobs taken away due to the same AI. Not too sure if soon we will see the economic meltdown or not.

I do so love how they say it will create such and such millions of new jobs. And that's great. Wonderful. But like I always ask and no one on either side of the isle will answer what happens to the workers in those positions _now_. I love how they say retraining, but there is such a thing as age discrimination regardless of the laws in place. Google gonna hire a new grad 50 year old. And not just white collar. People scream they want manufacturing back in this country, but have you seen up to date factories lately? Machines everywhere for the most part. They don't need benefits either
