Im canadian and he was my favourite, i even named my dog Kurri when i was 12 years old.
I love how half of the video is literally saying the same thing in different words to stretch to the 10 minute mark.
One of the best European players i saw.
Both Jari Kurri and Teemu Selänne grew up in the same suburb of Helsinki where I have lived all my life, Vuosaari.
Kurri is an all time great but we should give some recognition to Borje Salming as the original European pioneer, who faced a much rougher league in the 1970s. Also, Kurri had two solid Finish teammates when he arrived in Edmonton: Matti Hagman and Risto Siltinnen, both of whom had been in North America before him. This is not to take away from Kurri's impact or general greatness, but his status as a pioneer may be a little bit overstated.
In 1982 I was watching hockey world champs in Helsinki. Finland played against Sweden. Finns had to win that games to advance. Some local engineering students have brought a huge write blanket that said "Leppänen, Jalonen, Kurri, siiheen kaatuu hurri". It rhymed and meant that Leppänen, Jalonen ja Kurri will beat Sweden. Kurri tied to 3-3. Wayne Gretzky also played in those games and wont the scoring title.
Sharpest one timer shooter ever. Many players can shoot one timer 20x20 cm area, Kurri shoot 10x10cm area.
I saw him when he had 698 goals and wore his Finland jersey. I wanted him to get 2 goals! Saw Jagr In similar situation, 598 goals. He scored 1 and I was the only one in the arena (Raleigh NC) who knew just 1 to go for 600!
I would like to see a Dennis Potvin or Al McInnis video next.
If this team could be put against nowadays Edmonton, they would be decimated.
You could have deleted 2/3 of the video. Just repeating same things over and over again. More details, less repeating pointles senteces, thank you.
every goal you need pass. every pass you need someone make goal. no one is great alone
who is yuri?
I love how at the 3 minute mark, you say "even those in his own locker room doubted him", and you have a picture of the 84 US Olympic team with Pat Lafontaine, Ed Olcyk, Al Iafrate, David Jensen, and their coach, Lou Vairo. FAIL!
6am practices ? Maybe in Mites .
JAri Curry was a famous chef from Finland who invented Indian cooking!!! the more you know...
<3 from Finland
He definitely missed shots.
Great player, garbage video recycling the same content on and on to hit that 10-minute mark. Take a downvote, block and hide, chief.
