@ProtogenPilled

The last time I was this early to a siliconversations video,
wait I don't think I've ever been early to one of these
please make more of these, not just because they are simply amazing, but because I need more opportunities to say I was here early before you blow up thank you

@Florian87

I’m personally more worried about the fact that this is cutting humans out of the picture. It will allow governments to exercise power without there being anyone to refuse orders. In the past governments have failed to curb riots because the military refusing orders, if the weapon systems are all automated, governments can massacre civilians without any opposition.

@grumbotron4597

My Naïve ass 10 years ago was thinking "there's no way they'd actually build terminators knowing that's obviously a species wide suicide", and here we are trying to figure out how to do just that.

@Estrallio

Warcrimes without anyone to hold accountable in 3 ... 2... 1...

@awesierra704

Personally, I think your fears of a super intelligent AI being given a machine purpose built to end human life miss the much more imminent threat of a super unintelligent being given a machine purpose built to end human life. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be a military engineer having "tank wrangling" added to my job list when a drone has its camera damaged and now fails to distinguish friend from foe and starts firing shots at anything that moves.
I also wouldn't want to be a pilot operating in any space where that kind of counter drone system is being manned by a neural net algorithm knowing that the only thing stopping a good missile from deciding I look like a particularly large enemy drone is a robot that can't tell you how many Rs are in the word Strawberry.

@actofrek6797

1:54 seeing you now at almost 20k subs 2 weeks after you posted this is crazy

@calebghormley2322

While I agree that super intelligent AI does pose an existential threat, I think the more immediate danger is the people controlling the autonomous murder-bots.

Soldiers have families and a conscience, which acts as a minor deterint for unfettered imperialism and war crimes, and keeps revolution a viable option should conditions deteriorate even further.

When the military is composed almost entirely of AI piloted kill machines the only cost of war and oppression is monetary. Which will likely be outweighed by the financial gains.

@mofomo6209

The scariest part of it is that a lot of us might not ever know whether AI is carrying out calculated massacres across war torn regions of the globe, simply because the company responsible would choose to keep it quiet in the interest of share prices. Additionally, our governments can easily carry out the most heinous war crimes without any risk of whistleblowing or any unnecessary humans ever finding out- I mean look at how many incidents have been hidden from the public so far, and that’s without a superintelligent AI doing all the dirty work. That suppression in the interest of profit and remaining inconspicuous would eventually, inevitably, lead to a break-out upon the entire world population- a weapon that’s been secretly trained on masses of unsuspecting and innocent populace would have free reign and no-one would be the wiser, thanks again to human greed and stupidity.

So this is just literally a Skynet situation

@scarfblade5884

This is literally the plot of “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream”

@Legendarial

I love how silicon valley watched the terminator and went like "hell yeah let's go build skynet"

@Scier357

This shit went from OpenAI to OppenAI real fast.

@callyral

An AI algorithm recommended this to me.

@shushmuuu

every day we get closer to ULTRAKILL live action remake

@Just_another_menace

3:22 let's be fr banning AI wouldn't make a difference in this aspect because atm the people that are shamelessly committing a full scale geno Infront of everyone's face isn't being held accountable anyway so...

@cinderwolf32

@wormwoodweevil

“go ahead go press the off button on the death machine” got me

@verrrx

in the past, a skull was the universal danger symbol. as of now, it's the radiation symbol. in the future, its gonna be openai's logo
