Really interesting interview. Im a hugh fan of Jim Simons & Renaissance. When I first started trading I immediately realized how important it is to take low risk high probability trades.

This interview is very eye opening. One of his key points is something Shay repeats again and again. Trading is simple. Executing it is difficult/complicated. The way he explained his algo's strategy makes it sound very simple and based on commonly practiced ideas - identify trends/breakouts/reversals. Super simple. However, combining the detailed research around the average size of price movements; creating decision points the algo uses for entries, exits, and risk management; and managing multiple positions on different timeframes is incredibly complex. It's astonishing he has been using this algo for 20 years. Great interview!

This man is truly humble. Thx for making so much sense in this noisy world of cheap shots. Many can’t succeed as he also alluded to because they don’t even understand the terrain and game they’re playing. Wisdom & Discretion is key! I learnt a lot from him.

sorry, for that's the art of not saying anything ) how do they build their algos? How do they derive "alpha" from the highly liquid and not so volatile market? How do they backtest their ideas? How much do commissions contribute to overall trading costs? trading so actively, they need to have a heavy alpha since they probably generate massive overall commissions. how do they diversify between rules and different markets?

Awesome interview! Thank you. The trend system is mindblowing because it completely supercedes psychological subjectivity and emotional bias. Knowing when to say "I'm wrong, let's hop back on this trend", takes a computer (No emotion), not the typical human 34:00
