As programmer, I claim that in office productivity is 20% out of 100% because there is peace and quiet, but constant interruptions. At home I do 3-4 hour constant sprints 100% concentration.
For me, being in New York, it takes too long to get anywhere by car, train, or bus. I work in a NJ based company and it is faster to get there (we do go in once a quarter) than madison in manhattan at a previous workplace. For me, it's all about access to family. My kids are small right now. I can take a 4 pm or 5 pm lunch break to pick them up, work another 30 min or so when i get back, and then take them to after school activities like Tae Kwon Do and art classes. I would NEVER have that opportunity if we still worked in the office. I'm also the only driver in the family because my father passed away. I was able to see him a lot his last year on this world because we worked from home. Opportunities like that are literally once in a lifetime.
I straight up tell my boss I'm more productive at home because i don't have to travel. Thats how you do it
Our owners won't be satisified unless you are strapped into your cube, eyes glued to your screen with your fingers on the keyboard every single minute.
If working long hours at the office made us more productive then Japan would have been the most productive country in the world for some time now
I do a reverse coffee badge. Work the AM from home and come in for the afternoon. I hate mornings and morning traffic.
a big issues is that a lot of these companies used flexible or remote work as a recruiting tool. Taking it away after using it as a recruiting tool is why a lot of people don't want to go back to fully in office.
This only applies to the population that doesn't have to clock in/out onsite
So... being stuck in peak hour traffic twice a day makes you a better worker?
But the company doesn't complain when I am doing tasks at 11 pm. Luckily, my employer is flexible. If I had to work in a busy office I would get less done - too distracting and noisy.
Anyone else notice how CNBC has ALL of these interviews REMOTELY?!?!? Why aren't THEY GOING IN OFFICE to interview these people?!?
We know that work productivity from home is 30% higher than going to the office. Please stop the lies!
Why don't they get fired, or just get a different job? The company took the risk to open the business, not the employees. How is this fair to fast food workers? They can't leave, but people think they are so special. There's billions of other in the world to take your job...literally. Anyone that leaves work early, I don't want to hear about food taking too long or time.
You may as well stay. Your paying to travel to work just to badge. By the way I support working from home. Definitely way better than coming into the office and saves money.
I'm all about convenience and efficiency in the workplace, but this is getting out of hand. People are not as productive at home.
“We pretend to work and they pretend to pay us”
What's ironic is that the people advocating for return to office work in the video are being interviewed outside of their office. Hypocrites!
With jobs increasingly computerized you want us to put kids in daycare, leave pets alone all day, spend extra money and time in cars or transit systems, spend more on clothes, grooming, and food, and waste 2 hours in traffic every day - JUST TO SIT IN FRONT OF A COMPUTER ALL DAY IN AN OFFICE AND HAVE REMOTE MEETINGS AT THE OFFICE?? Nevermind, that when we are in the office a lot of time is wasted with people chit chatting about non-work topics! And some offices are very difficult to work in and focus due to constant distractions or noise. Now tell me how that is more productive? Tell me how an "editor" in this video whose workers are no doubt WRITERS are somehow more productive by commuting every day just to sit in front of a computer?? The FIRST item she mentioned about having people in the office was "culture" and the last was "creativity," so she wants people around in the office for "culture" and "mentorship" (chit chatting and socializing) yet she she is being interviewed remotely!!
Covid was the best thing that happened to me. 330k working at home a year now. Ty covid
