As an electrical contractor I can tell you the shortage of electrical distribution equipment started 4 years ago and hasn’t came back. Most electrical equipment sold in the U.S. today is made in America and Mexico.
People have been predicting the collapse of China every year for the past 20 years. There are some valid points, but their system is completely different from ours, which is why most of these analysts never get it right.
I went to Miami after Hurricane Andrew to do roofing. After driving around the city and many of its suburbs, I thought it would take between 5-10 years for it to recover. It was basically rebuilt in 9 months. Free enterprise will surprise Mr Zeihan.
Electrical engineer here. Transformers come from US, Canada, Mexico. Electrical steel insides comes from US or Canada. The wire is manufactured in us or canada. Wire materials are aluminum and copper. Not too long of a supply chain. I wouldnt worry about transformers. Switchgear seems to be the hardest to get with the longest lead times.
Don't know about China but here in the US, gym membership is pretty important if you're homeless. It's where you shower.
The problem is, when one speaks about transformers, there’s more than meets the eye.
Peter is the Jim Cramer of geopolitics, seldom right never in doubt.
I like this channel because I find it amazing someone can be consistently wrong and this confident.
5:41 "Chairman Gee" ??? There is no Chairman Gee. If you can't be bothered taking a minute or two to learn some rudimentary pinyin, how about pronouncing his name as "Chairman She". Bonus points for raising the pitch on the "she" to make it second tone. Hint: pronounce it like you are asking a question.
Nice choice of location for symbolism. That arch looks so fragile. I’m typing this on my new iPad Air, which still cost the same as it did before the fire hose was turned on. That won’t last, presumably, so I took your advice, as much out of necessity as desire.
But Peter told me China collapsed 15 years ago
He’s still talking about the same old crap. I used to think this was important but it’s not. He just likes making videos about this and wearing sunglasses.
Would like to come back to this video 3-5 years from now :)
Heard a report that a Japanese based salt seller has only half the volume going to China this year.
People who think the US can rapidly start manufacturing what it needs within its border remind me that this is the Age of Instant Gratification. People want everything NOW, but that's not how it works.
Pretty sure I spotted a young Indiana Jones fleeing in the background.
Fascinating!!!
I’m glad we put in solar power when we did. It’s not for everyone, and every climate. With an EV, we generally drive for free. Yes, we paid a one time charge to put it the solar. The more people who can do this, the less strain on the grid. It would make sense for the US vs other countries to make solar panels. The big cost though is the labor costs.
awesome as always thank you
